The Salmon Toast From

Maison Marcel, Lakeview, Chicago

Salmon Toast From Maison Marcel
I was invited to a Tipsy Business Meeting by a fellow Instagrammer and we decided on Maison Marcel as our meeting place.  It was my first time here and I can tell you with most certainty, that it wont be my last.  My companion and I decided to order two of their Toast Dishes to share. We chose the Salmon Toast and the Whipped Ricotta with Fig Toast.  Both were divine, but the juxtaposition of flavors on the Salmon Toast got me, Hook, Line and Sinker (pun intended). The bread was brioche and the cream cheese light and creamy. The Smokey Salmon combined with the salty capers and garlic chives were the perfect combination of flavors. Paired with a fragrant jar of iced coffee, superb service and a beautiful interior made it a perfect place to grab a cup of coffee, a meal or to spend the entire day!

Here’s a peek at some of the other delights at Maison Marcel.

The Alfajores Flan From

Ronero Chicago, West Loop, Chicago

Can a dessert actually be described as luxurious? That is exactly what this flan was (and I don’t even LIKE Flan). It was like eating velvet (or Mel Torme). Silky, smooth, perfectly delicious. Chef Corey Morris created this dish as a play on the well-known South American cookie, the Alfajore, and it was a job well done.  The flan was a perfect play on Dulce De Leche. The accompaniments, Cocoa Short-breads, Fresh Raspberries and edible Marigold Blossoms.  All together, fantastic. Oh so very “Fall” to look at as well!

Ronero is truly a vacation without leaving the city. The restaurant pays homage to Columbia and the food takes you on a journey through the Caribbean. I was fortunate to be invited to a Food Influencer tasting of the Fall menu and I was dazzled not only by the food, but also by the beauty of this space. Take a look at the other menu items we were treated to (food photos courtesy of Chamere Orr of Minus One Official Photography) then get yourself to Ronero to check it out for yourself. Check out the mysterious Rum Bar upstairs Thursday to Sunday!

The Pork Belly Gyro From

Yeero Revolution in Evanston , Illinois

Three words, Greek, Street, Food.  Yes, yes, and yes.  The picture speaks for itself. PORK BELLY GYRO!  I attended a dinner here after spending the day at Chicago Gourmet, and I was stuffed to the brim! I STILL made room for this beauty.  The meat was perfectly charred, the tomatoes so fresh, and the french fries, oh lord the french fries.  We were also treated to many other Grecian Delights like Lamb Chops, Rice Pudding, Souvlaki, and more.  The passion from the owners and staff was infectious. I am most grateful that it is located so close to home, but for those who aren’t close, it is worth a trip.

The Cachapas From

Venezuelan Bowl Grill, Lincoln Park, Chicago

What is a Cachapa you ask? It is THE BEST pancake you have ever had in your life. Cachapa is the Spanish word for crumpet. It is a traditional Venezuelan dish made from corn. They are served with handmade cheese, and these were topped with delicious butter. I had never had Venezuelan food before and I was invited by a foodie friend and treated to a feast at this hidden gem in Lincoln Park.  I was feeling slightly hung over from the night before and this food kicked Tipsy back into high gear. It literally gave me life! If you love a unique dining experience, women running the kitchen, and life giving food, get yourself to Lincoln Park and try this place and remember that its BYOB.  Take a look at what else we ate!

The Wasabi Crusted Cheese Curds from

The Berghoff Chicago, The Loop, Chicago

Do I really need to say much more after ‘Cheese Curds”?  The Berghoff is one of, if not THE most iconic restaurant in Chicago.  They hold the city’s first liquor license and the space is filled with museum like artifacts and decor. But don’t let the historical aspect fool you, The Berghoff has an innovative and delightful modern menu as well as the typical German classics.  There is SO much to share about this fabulous place that I am going to be dedicating a post JUST to The Berghoff soon, but I had to share a sneak peek of the fabulous Fall menu I was treated to. If you work in the area, don’t forget that the cafe in the lower level has incredible lunch options for every taste!  Here are a few of the other dishes we sampled off the Fall menu.  Stop in and check out the bar and their great beer menu for happy hour. (FYI, The Silver Fox, Executive Chef, Matt, is about as cute as can be too!)

These are just SOME of the great new food experiences I have had in the last couple of weeks. More to come! Clearly living the Tipsy Life is hard. Trying great food at restaurants is just part of the daily grind. It is thanks to my well connected foodie friends that I get to have so many great experiences to share with you.
