Cupcakes, Cocktails and Cooking ~ The Tipsy Weekly Wrap Up
Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest. I try to embrace this theory and spend the day planning for the week ahead and reflecting on the week that has passed. I thought it would be fun on Sunday’s to share what my week looked like. I will share recipes for the meals I cooked as well as highlight any fun places I tried out.
Sunday
I spent a fun day with my family in Wisconsin, celebrating my cousin’s youngest son’s First Holy Communion. It was a fun weekend spent doing what my family does best, eating! I drive down to Peru, Illinois on Saturday to pick up my Grandma and we road tripped to Wisconsin and spent the night in a hotel. The mass for the little guy was lovely and we enjoyed a day outdoors celebrating with family.
We ate lots of great food and drank delicious Bloody Mary’s. A staple at family parties.
Original Tipsy made my recipe for Chateau Mini Dumplings and Polish Sausage Stir Fry. Click HERE for the recipe! The dumplings have been a long time family favorite and as usual they were a huge hit. It was a great family weekend and we surely enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Monday
It was back to work and I was craving a sandwich. I have a very specific way I make my sandwiches and my sandwiches are pretty famous. I shared a step by step guide how to make my favorite recipe for a Classic Ham & Cheese by using items from a grocery store salad bar. You can read all about it HERE.

Tuesday
I woke up feeling a little grumpy. It was a dreary day and after a busy weekend, my house was in bad shape. So for my Tipsy Tuesday Housewife Hack, I shared a quick tip on how to clean up your house in under an hour. You can watch the video on my Instagram page in the highlights section called HOUSEWIFE HACKS. CLICK HERE TO WATCH.
Wednesday
I had to pick up wine for a party I was having on Thursday in partnership with Crazy Beautiful Wines and Give Me Some Sugar. I took the little guy I nanny with me and we picked up TWO CASES of my favorite wines and dropped them off at the event space. The little guy enjoyed a cupcake (or two) while I did a mini photo shoot.
I also made these delicious, easy and healthy Instant Pot Burrito Bowls for dinner. You can find the recipe HERE.
Thursday
It was another beautiful day so I planned a fun outing with the kids. We did lunch out at Blaze Pizza which is the perfect place for kids and grown ups. They get to build their own pizza which they love. The ate an entire pizza!
We then checked out a coffee shop in Highland Park that I saw on Fab Food Chicago’s, Instagram Page. It was called Coffee Speaks and it was awesome. I enjoyed a Galaxy Tea which is made with Butterfly Pea Flowers and some of their famous mini scooped scones. The kiddos enjoyed a chocolate muffin.
After that we went on a Playground Crawl. We used SIRI to point us in the direction of three playgrounds and we hopped, happily to each one. Did you know I run a second Instagram account called Itsy Tipsy? It is focused on my life as a nanny!
The kids were conked out after that so I was able to go home and prepare for my Cupcake and Wine party I was hosting that night. I made the savory appetizers that were meant to pair with the Malbec from Crazy Beautiful Wines. I made these Cocktail Meatballs that are a Tipsy Twist on a classic recipe. You can find the recipe HERE.
Later that evening I hosted a Blogger Event at Give Me Some Sugar , which is an event space in Chicago’s Roscoe Village Neighborhood. Things you need to know about Give Me Some Sugar: it’s BYOB, they host baking classes for all skill levels and its a great place to host events.
Chef Jerry taught my blogger babes how to decorate cupcakes he created to pair with one of my favorite wine makers, Crazy Beautiful Wines. Lee from Crazy Beautiful Wines taught about her lovely wines. It was a great event, lots of food, lots of wine and lots of laughs.
I think the girls did a great job! Check out some pics from the event!
Special thanks to all my blogger babes who came out and worked so hard!
As you can see, Thursday was a BUSY day!

Friday
I hosted the seventh “Dining With Tipsy” event. We were back at Holt’s in Park Ridge. I brought along 6 of my Instagram friends and we were tasked with tasting the entire line of Spring Cocktails that launch Monday, May 14th. Check out some of the colorful cocktails we were treated to !
This new drink menu, BLEW – MY – MIND! Holt’s is a great place to bring the kids and still be able to enjoy a delicious meal and some really thoughtful craft cocktails. It definitely gets 5 stars from me. I love living the “Ladies Who Lunch” lifestyle and this place was a big hit with all my gals. Especially my friend Haley from the blog A Walk In The Pink Park.
Saturday
I headed “home” to the Garfield Ridge Neighborhood, where I was born and raised. My brothers band was playing at my Family’s Church for a fundraiser and I had dinner plans with my Dad, Aunt and one of my many cousins. The show was great, the food was good, and the cold beer was flowing.
My brother’s band is called Stereotypes and they are a great “For Hire” cover band. Check out their website for more info. Stereotypes The Band.
If you have ever wondered exactly what The Tipsy Housewife does in a week, now you know. I love busy weeks and this one was no exception. I am looking forward to hanging out with Original Tipsy today for Mother’s Day!
Coming up this week I have some exciting events to attend, including the National Restaurant Association Show and a preview of a new food spot at Ravinia. Stay Tuned!
