Last week I attended the National Restaurant Association Show at McCormick Place with Original Tipsy. If you aren’t familiar it is a food focused convention where people in the food and beverage industry come to check out the latest and greatest in the culinary world. I will be sharing more details about the event soon, it was a fun yet exhausting day. After sampling tons of food and booze at the show, we were in the mood for a proper cocktail and a proper meal. We decided on Kimski in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South side of Chicago. Kimski…

This past week was a good one. I stayed close to home, checked out some, “new to me” places in my neighborhood, planted some flowers for my boss and of course spent the day with Original Tipsy last Sunday for Mother’s Day. Read through for a recap of my week including some great recipes I made and some new “Tipsy Approved” recommendations. Sunday Mother’s Day! Original Tipsy and I spend a lot of time together so we usually don’t feel the need to go over the top on Mother’s Day, plus we were going to the restaurant show later in…

Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest. I try to embrace this theory and spend the day planning for the week ahead and reflecting on the week that has passed. I thought it would be fun on Sunday’s to share what my week looked like. I will share recipes for the meals I cooked as well as highlight any fun places I tried out. Sunday I spent a fun day with my family in Wisconsin, celebrating my cousin’s youngest son’s First Holy Communion. It was a fun weekend spent doing what my family does best, eating! I drive…

Let’s face it, we all over indulge from time to time. We all know the feeling of not feeling well after a night out on the town, or in my case, a night at home. Some claim “the hair of the dog” is the only cure, but I disagree. The only cure is hangover food. I’m talking the salty, greasy, cheesy, buttery, variety that are oh so bad, but oh so good. I’ve highlighted ten things I’ve eaten this year that would cure any NYE debacles. Hopefully it helps soothe your New Years Day pain! Check out the list of…

As a life long city girl, I used to think the suburban food scene was a mix of TGI Friday’s (are those still around?) mall food courts and pick up joints for over 50 divorced people. I am humble enough to admit that I was dead wrong. A couple of weeks ago, my older Golden Retriever tore his ACL and we had to temporarily move in with my parent’s while he prepared and then recovered from surgery. Not the best situation, but I used the opportunity to explore the Food Scene of the Western Burbs. I was pleasantly surprised at…

The Salmon Toast From Maison Marcel, Lakeview, Chicago I was invited to a Tipsy Business Meeting by a fellow Instagrammer and we decided on Maison Marcel as our meeting place. It was my first time here and I can tell you with most certainty, that it wont be my last. My companion and I decided to order two of their Toast Dishes to share. We chose the Salmon Toast and the Whipped Ricotta with Fig Toast. Both were divine, but the juxtaposition of flavors on the Salmon Toast got me, Hook, Line and Sinker (pun intended). The bread was brioche…
