Cozy, Classic Supper Club Dining At The Top Of Wisconsin
Wisconsin is known for its supper clubs and each one has something special. In today’s blog post I want to share a supper club that I love. The Twilight Supper Club and Sandman Lounge sits on Hwy 45 and E at the top of Wisconsin, just south of the Michigan border in the beautiful town of Land O’ Lakes, WI. This supper club has all the classic Wisconsin supper club fare along with daily and seasonal favorites. Family owned and operated and filled with friendly faces, this place does not disappoint. Let’s get to the details.

Pulling up to the Twilight, especially in the Winter, you immediately feel all the cozy feels. In the Summer the outside has beautiful flower boxes filled with flowers and in the Winter, the windows glow with obviously cozy warmth. You walk in and are greeted with a warm and inviting seating area to the right and a bar to the left that begs you to sit down and order an Old Fashioned. The hostess stand is usually manned by the lovely owner Mary, who always greets you with a smile. Despite being a local hang out, you never feel like an outsider when walking in.

The Old Fashioned
The brandy old fashioned’s are literally served in a chalice at The Twilight. I always order by BOF, sweet and my Mom likes hers sour. I like olives in mine, but this particular evening I went with the standard fruit. These OF are classically made, muddled with fruit, sugar and bitters. They are loved by locals and visitors. I love sipping on one while I wait to place my order and after it arrives I head to the salad bar.

The salad bar has all the classic supper club offerings including: cottage cheese, macaroni salad, eggs, pea salad and spinach and other leafy greens along with a little crock of warm bacon dressing. The last couple of years the salad bar was noticeably absent due to restrictions, but I am so glad they are back. Especially the salad bar here at The Twilight.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
We just recently discovered the AYCE Broasted Chicken Dinner that is served on Tuesday’s at The Twilight. If you are unfamiliar with the term, broasted is a fried chicken that is prepared in a special piece of kitchen equipment called a broaster that is basically a pressure cooker combined with a deep fryer. The chicken here is so crispy on the outside and super juicy and tender on the inside. While it is AYCE, it would be hard for me to imagine being able to finish the portion the give you to start with, let alone, ordering more. While this chicken is definitely the star of the show at The Twilight, the stuffing on the plate is a close second. I am a huge stuffing lover, and if you followed me for some time you may know that I created the recipe for the World’s Best Stuffing that goes viral every Thanksgiving season. This stuffing at The Twilight may have me beat. I have no words to describe, it is just the perfect texture and flavor to go with this delicious chicken. You also get a decent dollop of whipped potatoes and some pretty great gravy. A little serving of cranberry sauce adds just the right amount of tangy sweetness to this meal.

Saturday’s In Wisconsin
Saturday night in Wisconsin means it’s Prime Rib Night and the Prime Rib at The Twilight does not disappoint. I ordered mine the last time with a double baked potato which was out of this world. The potato was light and fluffy and not bogged down with thick cheddar melted on top like a lot of places serve. My family likes a variety of levels of doneness and The Twilight was able to accommodate the well done lovers of beef along with me, the person who would eat the meat raw. One pro tip, go early for Prime Rib night. Like senior citizen 4pm early if possible, as there is a limited amount of beef and potatoes and they have been known to run out quite early.

Hop Over To The Bar For Dessert
It’s funny how when you can’t imagine eating another bite that a Grasshopper sounds great. The Twilight serves a pretty great one. Perfectly minty to put some pep in your step after stuffing yourself full of beef goodness. They have other great after dinner drinks and some other delicious desserts including this cherry cheesecake parfait we tried.

The Twilight will serve delicious food and provide you all the classic Wisconsin supper club vibes you are searching for on your Northwoods vacation. Please remember when visiting this establishment, or any others in the Northwoods, that staffing is hard and you may have to wait a little longer for your food and drinks. The wonderful people who own this establishment and those who work there, take a lot of pride in serving their customers a wonderful meal and experience and you will not be disappointed if you have a little patience.
