Pink Lemonade Sangria
A Summer Sipper To Be Shared With Friends

Pink Lemonade Sangria is the perfect porch sipping drink. Made with frozen strawberries and mango along with some crisp apples and zesty lime, this is THE batch cocktail to make for all your Spring and Summer events.
Porch Sipping Summer
I used to live in a 6 unit condo with a large balcony in a very eclectic community. One of my favorite things to do was to mix up a batch of this Pink Lemonade Sangria.
I often enjoyed it all by myself on my back porch. The porch, which I named the “Garden of Eatin,” was the perfect place to people-watch and sip on this drink.
You will enjoy it as well!

Pretty In Pink
I am a child of the late 1970s and 1980s and frozen juice concentrate was a staple in my childhood. My Mom was not a fan of Kool-Aid, so the best I could get juice-wise was making orange juice or lemonade from concentrate.
I was passing by the frozen food section one day and saw that they still indeed make the pink lemonade in the can and knew I had to make a cocktail with it.
If you can believe it, I was actually able to come up with a few different cocktails using the frozen lemonade concentrate, one of them being a Wisconsin Inspired Brandy Slush. This is a wonderful drink for summer or winter, but I personally drink it year-round.
Almost every grocery store I have ever been to carries the frozen pink lemonade. If you cannot find the pink lemonade, you can easily swap it for the regular lemonade but I just think the pink feels more cute.

What Kind Of Wine To Use for Sangria?
I am by no means an expert on wine, although I have written about my attempts to learn more. All I know is that I like to drink most white wines.
My favorite wine is typically what I like to call a “crispy Sauvy B,” which is a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Typically when I am out I get a Sauvignon Blanc that is a “Sancerre,” which is a wine region in France.
Again, I am not expert on wine, but I do know that I like the crisp, fruity flavors of this wine and it has no oak taste like Chardonnay does. If you want to read more about this wine you can read this post from Wine Folly that has many details about Sancerre, French Sauvignon Blanc.
Too Pricey For Lemonade
Wine experts will read this and shun me for suggestion using a good Sancerre to mix with a lemonade concentrate and they are not wrong, mostly for masking the beautiful flavors of this wine but also because a Sancerre is pricey.
IF I were to use a more affordable Sancerre for this cocktail, there is one I like that is called Grand Fossil Sancerre.

More Realistic Options
I have a few other, more affordable options for wine to make this Pink Lemonade Sangria. Most of them I can easily get at my local grocery store chain called Jewel-Osco.
I am sure they are accessible to most people who have access to a national grocery store chain:
I know that you will find any of these wines suitable for this sangria. If you happen to find a brand you love, please come share it with us on our Facebook Friends Of Tipsy Page!

Why The Almond Extract?
I know that two ingredients you see in the recipe card may be perplexing to you, one of them being the almond extract. The almond extract adds a nutty smooth flavor that pairs well with the fruity flavors of this drink.
This can seem like a sweet drink to some, but the almond extract helps blend those sweet flavors without them being cloying. It is the same concept of using almond extract in a drink like a Mai Tai.
I just use a standard almond extract that I get from the baking aisle. Specialty liquor stores DO sell special almond extract and almond bitters for cocktails that you can also use in this recipe if you like.
If you wanted to add more booze instead of almond extract, you can try adding a splash of Disaronno Liquor to this sangria as well. I really like to use this liquor in drinks, especially sangria.

My Favorite Apple
I love a good honeycrisp apple for this sangria. I love how this apple is not too sweet and not too sour.
The flavor and texture of this apple go really well with all the components of this drink. If you do not have access to this apple variety, get any crisp, tart apple your store has.
I have also used Granny Smith green apples in this drink. I get most of my apple advice from my good friend pictured below.

Some Treats To Pair With The Wine
There is nothing I love more than a good wine and cheese pairing. If you are looking for some recipes to pair well with this sangria, I have compiled a list of them below.

Pink Lemonade Sangria Recipe

If you're looking for a porch sipping sangria, you this fruity and refreshing cocktail will lift your spirits and your tastebuds. Made with frozen strawberry and mango, crisp apple, and a hint of tart lime it's perfect chilled icy cold and served for summertime sipping.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of a crisp, Sauvignon Blank *recommendations for wines in the post before recipe card
- 1 can of Frozen Pink Lemonade concentrate (12 ounces)
- 1 cup of Water
- 2 cups of Frozen Strawberries
- 1 cup of Frozen Mango
- 2 crisp Red or green apples *apple recommendations in the post before recipe card
- 1 Lime
- 1 teaspoon of Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of Almond Extract *or to taste
- 2 cups of Club Soda
- *optional
- 1 additional Pink Lemonade Concentrate
- 3 cups of Water
- Ice Cube Trays
Instructions
- Chill your white wine overnight or for a couple days before making this, you want the wine to be very crisp and cold.
- Slightly thaw the twelve ounce container of pink lemonade concentrate.
- In a bowl, add the frozen strawberries and mango and sprinkle with the almond extract and the white sugar and toss together. Add the pink lemonade concentrate and give this all a good stir, then add one cup of water. Let this sit for about 15 minutes on the counter so that it thaws slightly and all comes together.
- If you like, ahead of time, you can use the second, twelve ounce container of pink lemonade concentrate and mix with 3 cups of water, pour into ice cube trays, and freeze into ice.
- When ready to serve, wash and cut your apples into a small dice and add to a large pitcher.
- Thinly slice your lime and also add to the pitcher.
- Add your frozen strawberry, mango, and lemonade mix and give this all a good stir. Add in your cold wine and mix. Place in fridge to chill for 2 to 6 hours. The longer it sits, the more the wine soaks into the fruit.
- When ready to serve you can pour over ice cubes, or your lemonade ice cubes, and add some of the fruit to each cup and top each cup off with a splash of club soda.
- I sometimes use a garnish of mint or rosemary from the garden to complete the presentation.
