Tipsy Hawaiian Punch
Your Childhood Favorite With A Grown Up Makeover

There are just some flavors that instantly take you back to childhood, and Hawaiian Punch is definitely one of them. This frozen, grown-up version keeps all of that fruity, nostalgic flavor while adding just enough of a boozy twist to make it the perfect summer cocktail for relaxing by the pool, hosting a barbecue, or cooling off on a hot afternoon. Tipsy Hawaiian Punch will be your new favorite Summer drink.
This past weekend I got to participate in my very first block party at our new house. I’ve attended plenty of block parties over the years, but I’d never actually lived on a block that hosted one, so I was extra excited when I found out the theme was a Hawaiian luau. As a lover of all things themed, I immediately knew I had to make a fun signature cocktail. I landed on a grown-up Hawaiian Punch because it felt nostalgic, colorful, and perfect for a summer party. My original plan was to serve it in a beverage dispenser over ice, but I borrowed a friend’s Ninja SLUSHi machine and decided to give it a try. It turned into the most refreshing frozen cocktail, and it was such a huge hit that I knew I had to share the recipe with all of you.

Having A Party And Want To Make For A Crowd?
If you’re serving a crowd, this cocktail is just as delicious as a traditional party punch. In a large beverage dispenser, combine 4 cups vodka, 2 cups coconut rum, 1 gallon pineapple juice, ½ gallon cranberry juice, 1 quart orange juice, and 2 cups grenadine, then stir well and chill until ready to serve. Just before guests arrive, add 2 liters of lemon-lime soda for a little sparkle, then fill the dispenser with plenty of ice and garnish with orange slices, maraschino cherries, and pineapple wedges. This recipe makes approximately 35 to 40 servings, depending on glass size.

Make It A Slushy
If you want to really impress a crowd, you can make the punch into a slushy.

The Ninja SLUSHi machine is incredibly easy to use because it freezes your drink while continuously churning it until it reaches the perfect slushy consistency.
If you’re making this recipe in the machine, you may need to increase the juice slightly and reduce the alcohol just a bit, since drinks with a higher alcohol content don’t freeze as easily. Start with well-chilled ingredients, pour the mixture into the machine, and let it work its magic. If it seems a little too thin, simply add a splash more juice until you get the consistency you like.
I loved this machine so much after borrowing it from a friend, that I bought one immediately the next day. This is not an ad, just a product I loved. I am not a gadget person, but I have so many ideas for drinks for this machine!
Be Prepared
One thing that made serving this at the block party so easy was doing all of the prep ahead of time. I mixed several pitchers of the cocktail the day before and kept them in the refrigerator. Whenever one batch ran low, all I had to do was pour another pitcher into the Ninja SLUSHi. It kept the party moving, and everyone was able to enjoy a freshly made frozen cocktail without any extra mixing or measuring.
The Garnish
Since I can’t resist a themed party, I also picked up the cutest garnish tray to go along with the cocktail. I filled it with fresh pineapple, lemon and lime slices, and maraschino cherries. This way everyone could customize their drink. The best part is that the tray has an ice compartment underneath, which kept all of the fruit cold and fresh throughout the party. It was one of those little details that made serving drinks feel extra special, so I’ve linked the garnish tray below in case you’re planning a party of your own.
I made an Amazon Idea List with all my party must haves, including this tray. *This is another Amazon affiliate link*

Family Friendly Version
Want to make this family friendly? Simply leave out the vodka and coconut rum and replace them with equal amounts of pineapple juice, orange juice, or lemon-lime soda. You’ll still get that fruity, nostalgic Hawaiian Punch flavor that both kids and adults will love. You can serve it over ice, blend it into a frozen slush, or pour it into a Ninja SLUSHi machine for a fun, alcohol-free frozen treat everyone can enjoy.
Tipsy Hawaiian Punch Recipe
This Tipsy Hawaiian Punch Slush is a nostalgic, fruity cocktail that tastes like the classic punch you grew up with, but made just for the grown-ups. It's sweet, refreshing, easy to make. Perfect for summer parties, pool days, and backyard barbecues.
Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka
- 1 oz coconut rum
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 2 oz cranberry juice
- 1 oz orange juice
- ½ oz grenadine
- 1 cup ice
- Optional: 1 tiny drop almond extract for that classic Hawaiian Punch flavor
Instructions
- Add the vodka, coconut rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, grenadine, and ice to a blender.
- Blend until smooth and slushy. *you can also serve over ice and not blend
- Pour into a chilled glass.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry, if desired.
For the Ninja SLUSHi
The standard Ninja SLUSHi has a 64-ounce maximum fill line, so you'll want to mix a batch specifically for the machine rather than filling it to the top. Combine 1½ cups vodka, ¾ cup coconut rum, 3 cups pineapple juice, 2 cups cranberry juice, 1½ cups orange juice, and ½ cup grenadine. Because alcohol freezes more slowly than juice, you may need to add an extra ½ to 1 cup of pineapple or cranberry juice if your slush isn't thickening to your liking. Chill all of the ingredients before adding them to the machine, select the Spiked Slush setting, and let the Ninja do the work. Depending on the starting temperature of your ingredients, it should be ready in about 30 to 45 minutes. If the slush seems a little too thin, simply stir in a bit more juice and allow it to continue freezing until it reaches your preferred consistency.
Tipsy Tips:
- The almond extract is optional but gives the drink a subtle flavor that reminds many people of classic Hawaiian Punch.
- Keep the finished cocktail around 4–8% alcohol by volume for the best slushy consistency.
- Makes 1 cocktail.
