    All The Northwoods Feels

    January 12, 2018thetipsyhousewife

Good Memories Abound While I have been coming to the Northwoods for only the last 7 years or so, the bulk of my visits are in the warm weather months from Memorial Day to Thanksgiving. Two years ago I started to try to make it a tradition to come up in January after the New Year and experience the beloved, “Snow Mobile Season”. While I won’t go into a bunch of facts, (because I don’t know them) Eagle River and the surrounding areas are well known as the Snowmobile Capital Of The World.  There is something like 500 miles of…

Tipsy’s Tour of Five Wisconsin Bloody Mary Hot Spots.

    December 4, 2017thetipsyhousewife

Just Enough Spice The Bloody Mary is a weekend staple for The Tipsy Housewife, especially when I am up visiting the North Woods. Typically, Original Tipsy and I make it a point to escape the men on a Saturday, and enjoy one or maybe even two Bloody’s at our favorite spots in town. This trip we definitely needed a Girls Day Out so we decided to forgo our usual spots and become Bloody Mary Pioneers. We explored five different spots to check out their Bloody Mary offerings, and we were NOT disappointed. Come with us on our journey of exploration…

Tipsy’s Top Five Places to Eat In The Western Chicago Suburbs

    November 3, 2017thetipsyhousewife

As a life long city girl, I used to think the suburban food scene was a mix of TGI Friday’s (are those still around?), mall food courts, and pick-up joints for over 50 divorced people. I am humble enough to admit that I was dead wrong. A couple of weeks ago, my older Golden Retriever tore his ACL and we had to temporarily move in with my parents while he prepared for and then recovered from surgery. Not the best situation, but I used the opportunity to explore the food scene of the Western Burbs. I was pleasantly surprised at…

  • “A Waitress Named Diane,” AKA, The Old Fashioned Bar Crawl

    September 3, 2017thetipsyhousewife

Travel Wisconsin ran a commercial a few years back about the Wisconsin Supper Club and The Old Fashioned Cocktail. In the commercial it teaches that an Old Fashioned is served in a ten ounce glass with a maraschino cherry and an orange slice but that a REAL Old Fashioned must be served in a room with a brick fireplace and deer head mounted on a wall by a waitress named Diane. As a lover of the Wisconsin Supper Club scene, and pretty much all things Wisconsin, this commercial gives me all the feels. From all of this, the idea of…

  • A Taco Tour of Rogers Park

    August 22, 2017thetipsyhousewife

Ten Foodie Spots To Visit In Rogers Park For Tacos & Tamales I moved to a neighborhood of Chicago called Rogers Park over a decade ago. Originally, I planned to stay a year or two, sell my condo, and buy a house back in my old neighborhood. After living here a couple years, however, Rogers Park began to feel like home. The charm of the old buildings, the easy access to the lakefront and beautiful pocket beaches, the friendly community and most importantly, the food, has kept me here for ten years now, going on eleven. The R.P. is an…

  • 6 Reasons Foodies Need To Visit The Northwoods

    August 17, 2017thetipsyhousewife

Good Food and Good People My parents started coming to the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan & The Northwoods of Wisconsin twenty years ago when they were dating. Specifically, they came to Watersmeet, Michigan which sits immediately over the border of Land O Lakes, Wisconsin. They would camp in the Ottawa National Forest and eventually bought land and built their dream lake house seven years ago. I came up for the first time the first summer the house was built and immediately fell in love with the area. I secretly believe I was a “Yooper” in a past life because…
