Everyone has their favorite drive thru drinks, but we can all agree they lack one important ingredient:

Booze!

I’ve taken some of my favorite drive thru drinks and turned them into tasty cocktails that I bet you’ll enjoy as well.

Before we get started, let me make one thing extremely clear:

Don’t Drink & Drive!

I waited to add alcohol to these drinks until after I returned home and enjoyed them in the Garden of Eatin’. I’d also like to make clear that the franchises mentioned here had no part in this process and, as far as I know, do not condone my experiments.

That all being said, let me share with you a Tipsy Summer Project three months in the making.

I’ve taken some of the most popular drive thru drinks, true Classic Fast Food Favorites, and paired them with my favorite libations.

I’ve offered a few different options for each since I know that people can have very strong preferences when it comes to booze. For example some people say they love tequila, while others say it makes them sick.

Still others say they love it AND it makes them sick.

I also didn’t bother to list any proportions. It will depend on your taste preference and how rough your day has been.

With all of that out of the way, it’s time to mix it up with some fun drink ideas!

1. Arby’s Jamocha Shake

An Arby's Jamocha Shake

Addition options:

  • Kahlua
  • Vanilla Vodka
  • Bailey’s Irish Cream

There’s always been an appeal to mixing caffeine and alcohol. Whether it’s Irish Coffee or the forbidden 4Loko, people seem to like the suspense of never being sure whether they’ll pass out or struggle to fall asleep.

A lot of these drinks are going to be pretty sweet to start with, so you might want to opt for the vanilla vodka if you don’t have as much of a sweet tooth.

If a boozy dessert shake is exactly what you need, however, Kahlua or Bailey’s may be what you’re looking for.

2. Taco Bell’s Frozen Spiked Lemonade

Addition options:

  • Plain Old Vodka
  • Good Quality Tequila
  • Watermelon Vodka
  • Iced Tea Flavored Vodka (yes this exists)

Don’t be fooled by the name! This lemonade is alcohol-free. You’ll have to add the booze yourself.

Apparently it’s “spiked” with prickly pear juice, though I’m not sure that really counts. I’ll be planning my class action lawsuit if you want to join.

Just kidding! This drink is currently discontinued, but as any fast food fans know franchises are constantly bringing back old favorites, so keep that vodka on ice just in case.

3. Steak & Shake Classic Vanilla Shake

Addition options:

  • Rumchata
  • Captain Morgan Loconut
  • Malibu Rum (trust)

Is there anything better than a well-made vanilla shake?

Yes. A well-made vanilla shake with booze in it.

Some of the possible additions will give the drink a zesty coconut flavor, which I know can be a little polarizing.

If you’re not a coconut fan, good old-fashioned rum will still hit the spot.

4. Classic 7/11 Frozen Coke Slurpee

A Seven Eleven frozen Coke Slurpee

Addition options:

  • Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • Jack Daniels
  • Bacardi

The only thing better than Coke is frozen Coke. The next time you make your late-night 7/11 run, consider bringing home your frosty beverage and boozing it up.

Jack and Coke and Rum and Coke, AKA the Cuba Libre, are both classics for a reason, and they’re only better when frosty.

Just don’t get a brain freeze!

5. Starbucks Matcha Lemonade

Addition options:

  • Green Chartreuse (splurge)
  • Lemon Vodka
  • Malibu Rum

A matcha lemonade can be a good choice if you want something less sugary to booze up, though be sure to make clear to your barista that you want it unsweetened.

Whether you add more lemon or slip in some rum, this can be quite the refreshing cocktail.

Do you want to make your own delicious frozen drink without stopping by the drive thru on the way home? Then try my Mardi Gras Hurricane!

That recipe is for the mocktail version but it’s easy enough to add the booze.

If you’re looking for something a little lighter without the need for a drive thru trip, you could always make some Cranberry Apple Sangria.

Now off to continue my life’s work! Cheers 🥂
