A Boozy Farewell To Summer ~Tipsy’s Top Five Favorite Frozen Drinks~
So the official end of Summer is drawing near. In the fashion world this means the end of wearing white and in the world of debauchery it’s the end of frozen drinks. I enjoyed MANY a “Cold Frozen” in my Garden of Eatin” this Summer. I experimented with some old favorites and came up with a few new ones. It was fun to use the herbs from my Cocktail Garden!
Here are my Top Five Favorite Summer Drinks, make them before its unseasonable to do so!
Strawberry & Mango Frosé
1 bag frozen (about 2 cups) strawberries
1 bag frozen (about 2 cups) mango
1 bottle Rosé
Add the bag of strawberries to a blender or food processor and half the bottle of Rosé
Blend until smooth.
Pour into chilled glasses and put glasses in freezer.
Don’t clean you blender.
Repeat the steps with the mango.
*Any frozen fruit may be used.
Slushy Sangria
1 can frozen lemonade
1 bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (or any white wine)
Any kind of fruit (I used apples, frozen mango & frozen strawberries)
In a pitcher mix the frozen lemonade with two cans of the wine.
Place in freezer and chill for up to four hours.
Remove from freezer and add fruit, fresh and frozen.
Add remaining amount of wine (more cold wine can be added).
Let thaw a bit and give it a good stir. Sangria should be consumed while it’s still slushy.
* For an added touch, soak the apples in Grand Marnier or Triple Sec or Vodka
Sparkling Rosé with Garden Herbs
1 bottle of Sparkling Rosé
2 cups of frozen fruit (I used pineapples)
Handful of Herbs (I used Pineapple Sage)
Mix all ingredients in a pitcher.
Serve in a chilled glass.
*Other Herbs that would be great: Mint, Rosemary, Or Basil.
Pink Lemonade Sangria
2 Cups of Decent Vodka
1 Bottle of some cheap pinkish wine (Like Rose, or, Dare I say It? White Zin)
2 Cups Blueberries
1 Can of Frozen Pink Lemonade
Mix all the ingredients in a jug of some sort ( I use an old Cheese Puff jug).
Keep in your fridge and ladle out when needed.
*This recipe can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled for parties or just for yourself.
The Painkiller Cocktail with Coconut Pop
2 cans of Pineapple Coconut Juice (I used Jumex Brand)
1 Cup of Light or Dark Rum (I used Bacardi Light Rum)
Coconut Pops (I used Lifeway Kefir Pops but you can use your own)
Mix the juice and the rum, give it a good shake in a cocktail shaker or give it a vigorous stir.
Add to glasses & sink a popsicle into each one.
*I added a sprinkle of nutmeg for an added layer of flavor.
Tipsy is off to invent some Frozen Fall Cocktails, because that needs to be a thing. If you make any of these, share a picture on Instagram & tag me, The Tipsy Housewife so I can enjoy seeing your creations!
Happy Drinking!!
