What Is Gravy Master?

A lot of folks as me about the Gravy Master. For me, it is a staple of cooking comfort food.

You can find it on the shelf in the gravy and seasoning packet aisle. It adds a deep richness to a dish.

Some people use a similar product called Kitchen Bouquet. If you do not want to use either of these, you can use soy sauce.

If you DO buy the Gravy Master, I will link the other recipes that I use it in. It’s great for soups and and anything else that have you make a gravy.

It will be a great addition to your kitchen.

Thickness Matters

As you can see in this recipe I used a thicker, boneless chop. This recipe would be good with any chop at all but I like using these thicker cut ones in this recipe because they give you more time to bake and the pork chop does not dry out.

It gives it time to bask in all that delicious French Onion gravy. Remember that if you use a thinner cut chop, your cook time will be lessened.

If you use a larger or thicker chop, your cook time will increase.

The recipe will accommodate 4 to 6 chops, maybe even 8. I like to have extra gravy for the mashed potatoes.

Cheese Please

I add the slices of the cheese before I put the chops in to bake. The cheese will melt off into the gravy making a rich, cheesy gravy.

If you want the cheese to be more intact on the chops, you can bake these for a bit and add the cheese at the end to melt on the chops.

I sort of like that the cheese melts into the gravy, but this is a personal preference for you.

The BEST Mashed Potatoes

I love comfort food. You can serve these chops with noodles, rice, or my favorite mashed potatoes.

I would like to think that I have mastered the art of making the best mashed potatoes. I will link my method for the best mashed potatoes so you can try them for yourself.

Everyone who makes them cannot get over how creamy and delicious they are. You can also make things easy on yourself and buy the kind you just have to heat up in the microwave.

Crock Pot? Sure!

You can easily make this dish in the crock pot. Just follow the same steps as far as searing the meat and cooking the onions and then add this all to a slow cooker on low for 6 hours.

I would wait to add the cheese until the last hour of cooking, but you can add it at the beginning if that it is more convenient for you. This will turn out just fine either way.

Seasoning The Chops

I never like to give exact measurements for seasoning because people have different taste buds. I give them anyway because people get mad and want a starting point, but just know it’s only a suggestion.

A good rule for this recipe is to just season them lightly on both sides. With the onions in this recipe you can season and taste until it seems right to you.

Remember to not add too much salt since you will be adding soup and broth which has salt.

Canned Soup For Cooking

I get some people who get upset about using canned soups, but I like to use them in some recipes. If you need to be careful about sodium you can definitely substitute a lower sodium version of these soups or even use a similar but different product.

People also get upset about MSG but I do believe that these soups do not have any ADDED MSG, they just have the naturally occurring MSG that comes from fermenting of yeast. Do not quote me on this as I am not a food scientist.
