Perfect Pairings

Brussels sprouts go with most anything. I think they are very delicious with a ham, beef, or even just on their own with other veggies or rice.

These sprouts are extra delicious for your Easter meal. They are a pretty color that will go with any spring dinner.

Corned Beef Dinner

These sprouts are also a perfect pairing with my Oven Baked Corned Beef Dinner. I love this corned beef dinner as it bakes up with the BEST tangy mustard sauce.

I like that I can bake the sprouts while the corned beef also bakes. You can see that the sprouts get extra caramelized.

In my recipe I call for them to be quartered, but a lot of the time I also just halve them. Either way works and it is just a matter of your preference.

A timeless culinary delight, Brussels sprouts adorned with a touch of nostalgia. Each tender morsel is delicately caramelized to perfection, drawing out their natural sweetness, with the crisp, smoky essence of savory bacon. Infused with the warmth of brown sugar, this dish offers a comforting and familiar taste that's reminiscent of cherished family gatherings. It's a testament to tradition and culinary finesse. Whether shared over intimate dinners or cherished family feasts, this recipe promises to evoke fond memories and bring a smile to the face of anyone who savors its delicious flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 pounds of Brussels Sprouts *you can modify this recipe to any amount you want to make. I just make enough to make sure the standard sheet pan has layer of the sprouts after they are quartered
  • 8 strips of bacon
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (i actually eyeball this, see the steps below)
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder (adjust to preferences)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tablespoon of a mild tasting oil of your choice. I personally still use vegetable oil.

Instructions

  1. Wash your Brussels sprouts and dry them off on a paper towel. Then you will want to trim off the stems and cut them into quarters. Some of them will fall apart, meaning the sprout wont be fully intact, and that is ok.
  2. Heat your oven to 375 degrees. Please note that every oven is different and I highly recommend that you keep an eye on the time and temp the first time you make these.
  3. Add your brussels sprouts to a large bowl and add a couple of shakes of soy sauce to them. Then add your oil of choice. Then season them with the celery salt, black pepper, cinnamon, chili powder and give this all a really good toss until it is all coated.
  4. Take your cookie sheet and use the tablespoon of butter and rub it all over the pan on the bottom, use up the whole tablespoon of butter on this. Spread it all around.
  5. Cut up your bacon into a small dice.
  6. Add the bacon in an even layer to the sheet pan, then spread your Brussels sprouts over the bacon. *the bacon will not cook up super crisp this way, I prefer it this way. If you want crispier bacon, spread the bacon on the pan, place the pan in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes until the bacon crisps up, then add the sprouts and follow the rest of these steps below.
  7. Take your brown sugar and sprinkle this all over the top of the sprouts and bacon.
  8. I personally do another sprinkle of black pepper over this whole thing but this is up to you.
  9. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes approximately. Halfway through cooking I give this whole thing a good toss and then make sure to spread it all out again on the pan. The first time you make this, keep a close eye so it does not burn. I personally like to have some of the sprouts super charred and caramelized. You do you.
  10. Remove from oven and serve.

*feel free to adjust the spices and salt to your personal preference. All oven times and temps vary.

These. Are. AMAZING! I cooked the bacon for 12 minutes before adding the brussels sprouts. My husband says this is now our go-to recipe for brussels sprouts. We’re going to try the sauce on other vegetables, too. Carrots, sweet potatoes, winter squash…there are possibilities!

If you like brussels sprouts, make these. If you aren’t sure you like brussels sprouts, make these. If you think you don’t like brussels sprouts, make these and embrace the deliciousness. They’re that good.
