    August 11, 2018thetipsyhousewife

I know that it’s Summer and everyone is living life outdoors, but we are getting closer to  the “ber” months and it’s time to start preparing to be cozy. I for one am looking forward to the end of Summer, cooler days and weekend comfort food cooking. Perhaps I am jumping the gun just a little, but August is a good time to get back in the kitchen and brush up on those cooking skills that may have gotten lost over the backyard bbq. I rounded up three recipes you need to be making this weekend to help you get…

  • The Best Pork Chops Ever

    August 9, 2018thetipsyhousewife

This was one of those recipes that I made on a whim and it came together perfectly. I had been having a taste for Pork Chops and saw that the 1 inch cut, bone in, chops were on sale at my local Shop & Save. I had been inspired by a dish I had recently and knew I wanted to make something crispy with a honey mustard component. The recipe I came up with yielded some of the best pork chops ever. This recipe takes about 10 minutes to prep and about 20 to 30 minutes to cook, which also…

  • Tough Day Dinner ~ Scalloped Potato Shepherd’s Pie

    August 8, 2018thetipsyhousewife

I have to be honest, the first time I made this, it was not a recipe that would fit into the Tough Day Dinner category. I had wanted to make an easy scalloped potato shepherd’s pie but the first version did not work out. I attempted it again and made a few adjustments and it came out perfectly! My family loves a shepherd’s pie, but a traditional one can take some time. I chopped all my veggies for this dish, but to make it easier on yourself you can easily use cut veggies or frozen. You can also make this…

Sunday dinner is a tradition I think every family should have. Even if you are a family of one, the idea of preparing a wholesome meal on a Sunday is a great way to reset for the week and the leftovers make for a great lunch or dinner on a busy Monday. I have been a participant of the Sunday dinner my whole life. Even when I lived on my own as a single person I always prepared something extra special on Sunday night for myself or my single cousins and I. The importance of Sunday dinners is that it…

Often times I make things way too complicated when I cook. I forget about the simple dishes that warm your belly and your soul. I recently re-joined the world of Pinterest and was inspired by so many of the comfort food recipes I was seeing pinned on the site. July 29, 2018thetipsyhousewife

Thinking of things to make for dinner can sometimes make me want to rip my hair out. I get complaints of being sick of the same old things I make over and over and yet there are times I try something new and no one wants to eat it because it is unfamiliar. The other day I was in need of a Tough Day Dinner and I remembered some interesting hot dogs I saw at Aldi. They were Bavarian Style Hot Dogs. They looked lighter in color to your typical hot dog and they were also longer and skinnier. I…
