Salad Boards are the NEW wedge salad!
I was asked to bring a salad to a family party recently and BOARD (get it?) with my same old recipes, I decided to take the party salad to a whole new level.
I created a salad board!
Think of it as a play on a charcuterie board.
The party I was attending was a pizza party so I wanted to incorporate Caesar and Antipasto components. Here is what I used.
- Romaine Lettuce
- Iceberg Lettuce
- Green Spanish Olives
- Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives
- Marinated Artichoke Salad
- Smoked Gouda
- Asiago
- Homemade Refrigerator Pickles
- Tomato
- Smoked Salmon
- Caesar Croutons
- Scallions
- Two Dressings, Caesar and Sweet Onion
Prep was simple, I washed all my fresh components and placed them in freezer bags. The rest I brought in their respective containers. I grabbed my largest cutting board, some plastic ramekins I had from the dollar store, & brought it all to the party. When I arrived, I quickly assembled it and Voilà, the salad board was born!
People had so much fun building their own salads and when it was time to pick it up, the leftover components were still use-able and not soggy from sitting in dressing all night!
There are many variations you could do with this idea. Taco, spinach and bacon, wedge, house, SO many options!
Have fun and get creative!
Happy Eating!
