The Way To A Person’s Heart
You Know What it Is
Every couple has a story of how they met and fell in love.
Mr. Tipsy and I have a story and it is of course centered around food.
I knew Mr. Tipsy through a mutual friend who liked him. She knew that I was a good cook and she knew he loved to eat so she came up with the (not so) brilliant idea to have him and his friend over to my apartment where I would prepare a meal for the four of us.
Let’s just say he enjoyed that meal so much that he hasn’t left, going on 15 years now…..
I remember that meal like it was yesterday. My friend asked me what I was planning to cook and I suggested she ask Ross what he wanted to eat.
He told her to tell me that his favorite foods were steak and green beans. So I made ribeye steaks and this green bean dish with a Asian Inspired Pork Crumble on top. He still asks me to make those green beans for him to this day. Check out the green bean recipe now.
After taking this personal trip down memory lane, I thought to myself how much food is a love language for many couples.
I reached out to my recipe-creating Instagram network to ask them to tell me their foodie love stories. Specifically:
How long they have been together, something they appreciate about their partner, and what dish they prepare for their love that they know will make them happy.
Here are a few of my favorites stories! Check out their Instagram pages as well!

Adam and I have been together for over two awesome years!
One of the things that I appreciate most is how happy he is to support and encourage me, heés one of the big reasons I started my blog and love to try new recipes!
The one dish I know will always make him happy is a good breakfast sandwich. Ever since we started dating breakfast was our thing.
But we quickly found that we liked the breakfast sandwiches we made more than most breakfast sandwiches we could buy out! So it became our thing to make the best breakfast sandwiches!

Chris and I have been together for 2.5 years.
We met in India at the beach while we were both traveling. We spoke every single day after we met. We fought a lot over distance relationships, then I won all the arguments and he moved to Chicago 🙂
He makes me coffee every morning (probably bc he knows I am not nice before at least one cup) and he loves my home-made ceviche night.

My husband and I will be together ten years this February 14! We’ve been married four years! One thing he does for me that’s sweet it’s that he is supportive of my crazy ideas and cheers me on when I’m doubting myself. We both love brunch so one dish I make for him often are Chilaquiles! He loves when I make them because he feels that I care and love him to incorporate the food that he loves in my cuisine.
Enjoy the Chilaquiles yourself!

@rkwendte
We’ve been together a little over a year.
He’s a “show your love in little ways” kind of guy so he’s all about the small surprises; picking up french fries for me when he knows I’ve had a bad day, slipping a chocolate bar in my work bag with a note, etc.
He’s great at little compliments too, letting me know he appreciates me.
He would say his favorite meal is whatever I make him, but if steak is on the menu, he’s extra happy.
This recipe is set for what I call Bowl of Stuff. I typically mix some kind of grain (in this case, farro) with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Top it off with sliced steak (or protein of choice) add a dressing (here it’s chimichurri), and you’re good to go!

My husband Seth and I have been married for seven years.
In our few short years of a marriage, one of the sweetest things that Seth does for me is that he still opens every door for me wherever we go. Now that is a true, blue, Southern gentleman!
I express my love for him in the food that I cook him. I love to cook, so my love language is definitely feeding my family.
My husbandés favorite meal happens to be chicken quesadillas. Theyére so simple and yet, he just loves them!
When we got married, he harbored an intense love for Taco Bell Chicken Quesadillas.
Well, I just couldnét be his second love, so I determined to whip up  my own recipe for Copy Cat Taco Bell Chicken Quesadillas! He says theyére so good that heéll never go to Taco Bell again.
I think Iéve hooked him for life! Haha!
Kyle and I met online just over three years ago and were married in June of 2017.
I can always count on Kyle to wash the dishes after Iém done cooking which I love. The last thing a girl wants to do after cooking a big meal is clean!
When trying to get in shape for our wedding, Kyle started joining me to indoor spin class 2 days a week. He helps keep me accountable and motivated to go to class every week, even though he actually hates it!
I created a shredded chicken and cauliflower mac né cheese for Kyle when we started on Keto a few months ago.
I REALLY missed eating things like mac né cheese, but all of the cauliflower mac n cheese recipes that I found didnét have enough protein for Kyle.
That’s where this recipe came in! I know every time that I make this for him, its sure to be a winner with all its cheesy goodness and filling protein!
We’ve been together for 6 years, married for 3.She shovels our deck and sidewalk back to the garage when it snows because she knows I’m a klutz and fall easily. My wife’s favorite is my taco skillet. She says she could eat it every day!
My husband Scott and I have been married for 2 years, but we’ve been together for 11 and even attended my Senior Prom together!
I really love when Scott brings me home flowers!
Scott is a hugely picky eater, so it makes me extremely happy to know how much he enjoys my Italian beef! He eats it for days in a row when I make it!
My beef recipe can be found on my blog.
I loved reading all these love stories and seeing these fantastic dishes! I guess what they say is true:
The way to a person’s heart is through their stomach.
What are you cooking for your Valentine this year? Leave me a comment below and Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your love!
