Cheesy Beef Sliders with Caramelized Onions

Cheesy Beef Sliders with Caramelized Onions
I love sliders of any kind. I also love caramelized onions. For me, they add such great flavor and texture to any sandwich, especially a burger. I love making these sliders for a party because they are easy and also delicious. Cheesy Beef Sliders with caramelized onions, a hint of Worcestershire sauce and black pepper plus melty muenster cheese. This is delicious.
I made my beef sliders in the air fryer as the weather was not ideal for grilling. There really is not wrong way to prepare and assemble these sliders. The real recipe method I am sharing below in the full, printable and Pinterest Pin-able recipe is for the delicious caramelized onions.

Where’s The Beef
A lot of you probably are too young to remember this commercial, but it gave me a good laugh. For this recipe you are more than welcome to make your own slider burger patties. I was recently introduced to the store Meijer and found these awesome, already made, sliders. I simply seasoned them with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powders. They were great quality and delicious.

Air Fried and Delicious
I love using my air fryer for these kinds of recipes. It is little work and low stress. I like the brand GoWise for air fryers and the Cosori brand. I do not have a specific recommendation as you should research what size you need for your home. The air fryer in the picture is at a friends house. They are a family of five and the brand they use is Cosori.

Low and Slow on the Onions
The onions are the longest part of this recipe. You can make them ahead of time. The trick is keeping a good cook temperature and making sure they aren’t burning but also not turning them too much.

Cheesy Beef Sliders with Caramelized Onions

These beef sliders with caramelized onions, creamy muenster cheese and your favorite burger condiments are a quick dinner dream. Serve on pretzel rolls for even more delicious flavors. These burgers are perfect on their own, with some air fried frozen French fries or a simple bagged salad for a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 8 to 10 pre-made slider patties (I got mine at Meijer Stores)
- 2 large vidalia onions, diced
- 1/2 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Salt and Black Pepper
- 8 slices of Muenster Cheese
- garlic and onion powders
- 8 to 10 dinner rolls (I used pretzel dinner rolls)
- Yellow Mustard
Instructions
- Melt your butter on medium high heat in a skillet then ad your diced onions.
- Toss the onions well in the melted butter and then spread out evenly in the pan and reduce the heat. You don't want to stir these onions too much as you want them to cook low and slow and get a good caramelization. Be careful to watch them and stir occasionally. Be sure to spread them back out in an even layer as they cook.
- My onions took about 35 minutes to cook and become dark, golden brown. Towards the end of cooking, I add the Worcestershire sauce and sauté at a little higher heat and then finish the onions off with a couple of hefty shakes of black pepper and a few shakes of garlic and onion powders. Set these aside.
- Season your burger patties with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Let them sit for about 30 minutes at room temperature. I was making my sliders in the air fryer. Preheated my air fryer for 10 minutes at 370 degrees, then added the patties.
- Cook the patties for about 5 minutes and then use the bottom of a glass to press the patties flat. Cook for 5 more minutes, flip then cook for another 5 minutes. *please note that every air fryer is different and cooks at different times. You can also grill these patties.
- I removed the burgers and added the slider buns to the air fryer basket. I wiped the excess grease out carefuly with a paper towel. Air fry the buns for a minute or two.
- To build your sliders, spread a small amount of mustard on both sides of the bun, then on the bottom bun add a decent amount of the onions. Top with your burger, add more onions then some muenster cheese.
- Place the burgers in the air fryer for just a couple minutes until the cheese melts. I do not top the buns with the top part of the bun for the air fryer. Also, press the cheese into the onions so it doesn't blow around in the air fryer like mine does sometimes.
- Remove from air fryer and top with the bun lid and serve!
- If you do not like mustard these are also super good with steak sauce instead of mustard.

A Side Of Salad
A great recipe to serve along side these sliders is this Summer Salad with Farro. It is a light, bright, whole grain option that tastes better if you make it ahead. It pairs so well with these sliders.
