A Kitchen Party In A Cup

A pantry party drink with slices of lime and a cherry on top

The story behind these Pantry Drinks is a funny one. I used to host Sunday dinner at my house about once a month, a tradition I carried on after my Mother-In-Law passed away.

We would usually have a big pot of Sunday Sauce and Meatballs. I would make other things as well, like appetizers and salad.

I would treat myself to drinks as I cooked. It was a lot of work and this helped me relax and enjoy.

Sometimes by the time dinner got out, I was “feeling no pain” (as my Grandma used to put it). My father in law used to tease me that I was a “Pantry Drinker.”

This always made me laugh. I came up with this concoction one Sunday and it is one of my favorite pink, girly drinks.

Pantry Drinks are a fun drink for the home cook. These drinks are perfect for prepping meals or to enjoy when you are cleaning up your kitchen after a fun party.

Crisp tequila, watermelon lemonade, cherry and lime make for a pink party in a glass.

What’s In It?

There is a printable recipe card below. Before you get to the recipe card I will share some pictures and information about the ingredients.

This helps people to find ingredients they are maybe not familiar with. This also provides a guide for people who have a hard time finding things in a store.

A bottle of tequila

Tequila Time

I do not often drink tequila, but it is a MUST for this drink. I will only drink clear tequila.

Do not buy the golden colored or yellow tequila. You will have a really bad headache.

It is worth it when drinking tequila to spend some extra money.

One brand I like that is pretty affordable is the Casamigos. But there are PLENTY of good quality and affordable tequilas in the market.

For some reason I think George Clooney is behind this brand of tequila.

(EDITOR ANDREW’S NOTE: It was cofounded by him but sold for over a billion dollars a couple years ago)

A bottle of Cointreau

The Cointreau

Cointreau is what I suggest for this recipe. It has a great orange and citrus flavor.

If you want to save money you can also use triple sec. This is more affordable and gives a similar orange flavor.

I use that in my Snow Day Cocktail. You can also splurge and buy Grand Marnier.

If you use the Grand Marnier it will be even more boozy, which may appeal to a lot of you!

Two bottles of maraschino cherry syrup

The Cherry On Top

On the recipe card you will see that there is a Maraschino Cherry Syrup. This is sold in a lot of grocery stores.

I see it in the liquor aisle but I have also found it in the baking aisle as well as the juice aisle. If you cannot find this in the stores, there is this brand and another on Amazon.

In a worst case scenario, you can buy the cherries and drain the juice for your drinks!

A bottle of watermelon juice
This is the watermelon lemonade I use, ités found by the orange juice in the cold section.

My husband and I love this drink. We started to make it when you did a quick Facebook post about it. Perfect for the porch on a summer afternoon. Now that it is football season, I am cooking up game day food while I sip on one. We have changed it slightly. Amarena cherries from Trader Joe’s and club soda in place of the lemonade. It is THE BEST!!
