Whipped Cream Cheese and Stilton with Olive and Honey Topping
A Last Minute Appetizer That Will Impress

This Whipped Cream Cheese Spread is blended with fruity Stilton until light and fluffy, then topped with a savory mix of finely minced olives, red onion, honey, vinegar, pistachios, and black pepper perfect for seeded crackers. The olive mixture can be served right away or made ahead to let the flavors meld, then spooned over the cheese or served on the side.
A good Aldi-centric appetizer is unbeatable. I always have a lot of food in my house for recipe creation as I’m constantly purchasing interesting things as I see them and keep them in my pantry stockpile for when I am feeling inspired.
I had a friend stopping by for a drink and needed a quick and easy appetizer so I threw this together last minute and it is now one of my favorite cheese spreads ever! Most, if not all of the ingredients can be found at Aldi.
That makes this Whipped Cream Cheese and Stilton with Olive and Honey Topping affordable as well.

Aldi Cheese For The Win
I probably have four hundred pounds of Aldi gourmet cheeses in my fridge at any given time. This Masquerade Mango is a big favorite of mine.
It says there is ginger but I do not taste it very strongly in this cheese. The sweet mango flavor and the dry cheese is perfect for the sweet and salty flavors of the olives.

Make Ahead Or Serve Immediately
You can make the olive mixture ahead of time and let it hang in the fridge or you can serve it right away. Know that this WILL macerate, so you will have liquid from this mixture.
You can drain it, but there will still be some liquid as it sits. I personally like it but if it does not look appetizing to you, you can drain well and top RIGHT before serving.
You can also serve the topper on the side so that people can build their own crackers and the cheese remains light and fluffy. This topper gets better as it sits.
I like the liquid as it adds to the flavor of the cheese as it marinates. If this is sitting out for a long time you may want to choose the alternative separate serving suggestion.

Two Elegant Spreads
I have a hard time deciding if I like this Whipped Stilton Spread better or my Whipped Parmesan and Honey Cheese with Pecans better. For anyone else who is a salty, sweet lover, these are BOTH right up your alley!
Whipped Cream Cheese and Stilton with Olive and Honey Topping Recipe
This whipped cream cheese spread is blended with fruity Stilton until light and fluffy, then topped with a savory mix of finely minced olives, red onion, honey, vinegar, and black pepper. The olive mixture can be served right away or made ahead to let the flavors meld, then spooned over the cheese or served on the side. Finished with pistachios and extra black pepper, it’s an easy appetizer that feels elegant without being fussy.
Ingredients
- 8 ounce package cream cheese softened
- 5.3 ounce package Stilton cheese with mango from Aldi or any hard or semi firm cheese with fruit about 5 ounces *pictured in post before the recipe card
- About 1 cup dense sturdy olives, pitted and finely minced, Italian olives work well
- One quarter to one half cup finely minced red onion, to taste
- 3 tablespoons honey plus *optional hot honey to taste
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar or white wine vinegar
- Black pepper to taste
- Chopped pistachios *optional
Instructions
- Place the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl and whip until light and fluffy.
- Crumble the Stilton cheese into the whipped cream cheese and whip again until smooth light and fluffy.
- Spread the whipped cheese onto a serving plate or shallow bowl.
- Finely mince the olives using a knife or chopper and place them in a separate bowl.
- Add the finely minced red onion to the olives and toss to combine.
- Add the honey and a small drizzle of hot honey (if using hot honey), the vinegar, and black pepper then toss everything together, coating evenly. Measurements do not need to be exact and can be adjusted to taste. Taste as you go.
- The olive and onion mixture may be served immediately or refrigerated for a few hours or overnight to deepen the flavor.
- If serving after resting you may drain the mixture well to prevent excess liquid though a little liquid adds flavor. *The liquid will pool if this is sitting a long time so you may want to drain well if it is sitting out.
- Spoon the olive and onion mixture over the whipped cheese or serve it on the side for guests to add themselves.
- Top with chopped pistachios if desired and finish with additional black pepper before serving. I serve with seeded crackers or rain forest crisps.
