An Easy Delicious Side This Dense Bean Salad is a throwback recipe from my days working in the deli of a local grocery store. This is a very easy salad to make using canned beans, diced bell peppers, red onions, and your favorite zesty Italian dressing. You can make this a day in advance of serving, as it tastes better as it sits. This salad is also a great meal prep option as it lasts in the fridge for up to one week. The full, printable recipe is at the end of this post, but there are some vital tips…

A Super Food Super Salad This Summer Salad with Whole Grain Farro not only tastes good, but it is good for you! It is even better the longer it sits and can be made up to twenty four hours in advance. What Is Farro? Farro is an Ancient Whole Wheat Grain with a nutty taste and a chewy texture. You prepare it like rice. To me, it is…

The chicken is marinated overnight with a can of Sprite and some Zesty Italian Dressing. Wait… Sprite?! Yes! Stay tuned! The Caesar Pasta Salad I am always surprised when people tell me they have never had a lettuce salad with pasta. I worked in a deli in the 1990’s and these types of salads…

Savory Asian Flavors I created this Copycat Thai Crunch Salad with Peanut Dressing based on one of my addictions from California Pizza Kitchen. CPK is a chain restaurant that is known for unique pizzas and fresh salads and this salad is my favorite. It used to be called the Chinese Chicken Salad. The good news is that while the salad’s name changed, the dark brown peanut dressing did not. Occasionally I let myself splurge and have the salad delivered and I always get two of the dressings. This was getting expensive, so I decided to make it myself, hence the…

Just as Good as Authentic Copycat Jewel Chef’s Kitchen French Quarter Dressing was a product of the Chicagoland based Jewel Food Stores. The dressing was sold in the Chef’s Kitchen department which was their deli. If you remember, the French Quarter Dressing was sold in a short, stubby, rounded on the bottom bottle that was narrower at the top. The sides of the bottle had ridges. Dressing Nostalgia I know this and remember it well. I worked in the Chef’s Kitchen in the late 90’s into the early 2000’s. I’m uncertain as to when they discontinued this delectable dressing. I…
