A Variety of Yummy Appetizers

I wanted to write a blog post that highlighted one of my favorite courses, appetizers.

Variety is the spice of life, and there’s something exciting about getting to try multiple little dishes before you get to the main course.

You could even have a whole appetizer party in potluck form. Of course you’ll need some amazing recipes first, but I’ve got you covered.

I rounded up 5 of my favorite party favorites to make for friends or even just to have at home for a date night in.

I do have to issue a warning, however:

These recipes may make you TOO popular at parties and you will find yourself overwhelmed with invitations!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I get asked to attend a lot of parties. I have a big family and I feel like there is always some event that I am invited to that I need a dip or appetizer for.

That’s why I am always on the look out for new things to make that are easy, inexpensive, and have a “wow” factor. People expect me to bring something special and I hate to disappoint them.

I was in the store the other day, Aldi to be exact… let’s face it I am at Aldi pretty much every day…

Anyway I saw these dried apricots. I knew I wanted to do something savory with them but I wasn’t sure what.

I took a look around the store and spotted my favorite goat cheese and some Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.

BINGO!

A light bulb went off and I wanted to test out a recipe for a whipped goat cheese. I rushed home with my ingredients, which cost $7 by the way, and went to work.

This recipe came out so good. It was the perfect balance of savory and sweet.

Whipped Goat Cheese with Thai Chili Sauce and Apricots

I definitely knew it was going to be a hit at parties. If would like to risk becoming popular as well, you can bring Whipped Goat Cheese with Thai Chili Sauce and Apricots to your party.

Shishito Peppers with Sweet Paprika Aioli

Another discovery I made at Aldi was shishito peppers.

Shishito peppers are a pretty popular produce item in the Midwest during July and August, but this was the first time I had seen them available at Aldi.

If you aren’t familiar, shishito peppers are sweet and slightly smokey and 1 out of every 10 peppers are spicy. The fun of eating them is to see who gets a spicy one.

This recipe is also a great one for anyone doing a low carb or Keto diet. The peppers take only minutes to prepare and go so well with your favorite cold crisp summer wines.

You can also make the aioli dip with ingredients you probably have on hand. Everyone will be fighting over the Blistered Shishito Peppers with Sweet Paprika Aioli.

Dorito Chip Dip

Believe it or not, I am not a huge chip person despite my feelings towards them as sandwich toppings.

I know there are people who can sit down with a bag of chips and devour the whole thing in one sitting, but I am not one of them.

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have purchased a bag of chips that weren’t for a party. I do love one kind of chip though, and those are Doritos.

I wanted to come up with a dip that would pair well with classic nacho cheese Doritos. I perused Pinterest for ideas and was inspired by many recipes. I came up with this dip that is sure to be a classic.

Again, this Dorito Chip Dip cost me about $10 to make and yielded a large serving size. Just be certain to clear your schedule in advance to make room for the additional parties you’ll be invited to.

Veggie Pizza Appetizer

Everyone has that relative that makes the same thing for every party.

This is a blessing if it is something you love.

For example, I have an Aunt who actually makes the same three or four AMAZING things for every party. One of my favorite recipes of hers, is her Veggie Pizza Party Appetizer. It is so easy to make, costs about $10 to buy the ingredients, and is just absolutely delicious.

Taco Dip

The last recipe I am going to share is another favorite from the Aunt who makes the veggie pizza.

It’s a layered Taco Dip it’s my all time favorite. My whole family looks forward to it every party. She even goes as far to make half with tomatoes and half without so she can please even the picky eaters.

It can be a little more expensive to make but it is absolutely worth it.

I hope you love these recipes as much as my family, friends, and I do. I think that they are all easy to make and relatively inexpensive.

They definitely will make you more popular at parties, though they can also be perfect for a family game night or romantic evening.
