Asian Inspired Cheesy Goodness

Toasted sesame dip with sliced cucumbers

Toasted Sesame Dip is something new and different for your happy hour snacking. It’s made with cream cheese, a dollop of mayonnaise, and the savory flavors of peanut butter, soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil and is perfect on rice crackers, cucumbers, or stuffed in celery!

For the last twenty years we lived in an area that was not conducive to hosting guests, mostly because of the distance and the parking situation. Now that we moved, we have people stopping by all the time which also means I get to make all kinds of snacks.

My friend Mary was coming over after work on a Friday for my Yuzu Lemon Drop Martinis and I wanted to have something that paired well with these drinks. And thus the idea for the Toasted Sesame dip was born.

I think the flavors in this dip come together perfectly. It makes for amazing snacking when you just want to nibble.

The dip can be served right away but also gets better as it sits. I made this on a Friday and then also served the leftovers on Sunday, and it was even better.

Recipe Card

This recipe is pretty self explanatory as you will see on the recipe card below. You can also pin, save or print the recipe card.

The measurements for all the dry seasonings and herbs are always a suggestion. Remember to taste as you go and adjust them to your preferences.

The same goes for the peanut butter, soy sauce, and the sesame oil. Make this recipe your own!

Rice Crackers

Most of the ingredients in this recipe are pretty self explanatory. The one that I think a lot of people may have questions about are the rice crackers I suggest for the actual dipping of the dip.

I find rice crackers at mostly every store I have ever gone to. If you aren’t familiar, you probably just never looked for them before.

I find them either in the cracker aisle or with the Asian foods. The brand I pictured above from Ka-me is one I see most often.

I also see that there are a lot of options for rice crackers on Amazon. If you cannot find rice crackers, you can use potato chips, cucumber slices, any other raw veggies, or fry up some wonton wrappers!

Anything dipped in this Toasted Sesame Dip will be good. You can even stuff celery with it.

No Peanuts, No Problem

If you have someone with a peanut allergy, you can go ahead and omit the peanut butter in this recipe. If you omit the peanut butter, I would add a little brown sugar to the recipe instead.

About one 1/2 tablespoon should give the dip the sweetness it needs that the peanut butter provides. You can also increase the sesame seeds or the sesame oil to add more of the nutty taste to this dip.
