Make The Internet’s Viral Recipe Sensation

This dumpling bake is quick and easy to assemble and it bakes up very quickly. Made with frozen dumplings or pot stickers, evaporated milk, soy sauce and a few other spices and herbs like curry paste. This is a fun weeknight recipe that even the kids can help throw together.

I had been seeing this recipe all over the different social media platforms and I knew I had to make it. I love a good dumpling. This recipe does not look as great as it tastes. Trust the process on this one. I was not sure how it would come out but it is addicting and delicious. The great thing about this dumpling bake is that you can change up the flavors with different curry pastes.

I was also thinking that my Crunchy Ramen Noodle Salad would be a great side dish for this dumpling bake!

Not Too Much To This Recipe

There is not much to making this recipe. I think the only thing that may be new and different to some is using curry paste. You will find red curry paste in most stores. Find this in the Asian food aisle. You can also order many brands right on Amazon.

I personally like to use a Masaman Curry Paste which is a little more nutty tasting. Any curry paste you choose will be good in this recipe. I also have a few recipes that use curry paste that I have not yet put up on the site. I will do so soon. This way the curry paste will not go to waste.

The Dumplings

I buy handmade dumplings from a local to me Asian specialty food store. You can literally use any frozen dumplings. I have even purchased frozen pot stickers from the Dollar Store that were very good. I want to get to Trader Joes and try making this dish with their mini chicken won tons as well!

Dumpling Bake

This dumpling bake has been an internet sensation. It is an easy dinner made with frozen dumplings, evaporated or coconut milk, soy sauce and curry powder. Add some spinach for some vegetable deliciousness. An easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of evaporated milk or coconut milk (12 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons of curry paste *I used a Masaman Curry Paste, it is pictured in the post before the recipe card
  • 2 teaspoons of onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of dried ginger
  • 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 20 frozen potstickers or dumplings
  • 3 handfuls of spinach *or to taste
  • Garnish with green onions, chives, sesame seeds, cilantro or chili crisp

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 400°, get out a 9 x 13 baking dish and spray with some non stick spray or oil or butter.
  2. Place the frozen dumplings in the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, curry paste and all the spices along with the evaporated milk or coconut milk. Whisk until well combined and smooth.
  4. Spread the handfuls of spinach over the dumplings. Remember that spinach shrinks to nothing so be generous with the spinach.
  5. Pour the mixture from the bowl over the dumplings and spinach.
  6. Cover tightly with foil and bake 20 to 25 minutes. I like to take the foil off and bake uncovered for 5 to 7 minutes so the dumplings have a little crispness to the tops. Reminder that all ovens are different so keep an eye on the cook time when making this for the first time. Sauce will be bubbly and caramelized when this is done.
  7. Serve with rice if you like. Top with any of the garnish suggestions like chives, green onions, chili crisp, sesame seeds or cilantro.
