The Best Pork Chops Ever

Your New Favorite Pork Chop Recipe

The Best Pork Chops Ever. Breaded pork chops with parsley and sauce.

The Best Pork Chop Ever are a tried and true Tipsy Housewife recipe. This one uses simple ingredients like Crispy Oven Fry Seasoning on the bone-in pork chops.

This fries the chops up crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, right in your oven! You then make a delicious honey mustard glaze that gets drizzled over the top when they are hot out of the oven.

This will be your family’s new favorite pork chop recipe.

Many Reasons They Are So Good

It’s one of the most popular recipes on my site, and to be honest I can understand why. It might seem like I’m tooting my own horn here, but there’s a reason these aren’t called the second best or third best or runner up pork chops.

When made according to the recipe, they’re tender and sweet and spicy and perfect for dinner any night of the week.

The addition of the Oven Fry makes these so simple to prepare and the honey mustard glaze is next level. They fry up in your oven so there’s less mess.

This was one of those recipes that I made on a whim and it came together perfectly. Did I spend years in my kitchen lab testing and refining the perfect pork recipes until I finally emerged with a breakthrough?

Or was it a sudden inspiration delivered on the top of a mountain by some sort of pork angel? While I wish I could say it was as fascinating as that, the truth is much simpler.

Two raw pork chops.

Bone In Chops

I like to use bone in pork chops for this recipe because I think they fry up in the oven a lot juicier then boneless chops do. In my experience, cooking these chops this way, with the bone, yields a juicier chop that is still crispy on the outside.

One of the other recipes that everyone seems to love that also uses Bone In Chops is my recipe for Black Pepper and Paprika Pork Chop In A Smothered Gravy. This recipe is absolutely heavenly.

If you also make these, be sure to serve them with my Creamy Mashed Potato Recipe. The gravy from the chops NEEDS these mashed potatoes.

The chops I use in this recipe are about one inch thick typically. The cook time I have for these in the recipe card are for one inch thick chops.

Please keep in mind that if you use thinner or thicker chops, the cook time will need to be adjusted.

Your Oven Matters

I also like to remind people that cook times are sometimes specific to each oven. Things matter when it comes to ovens.

I use a gas oven at home in Chicago and an electric oven when I am up in Michigan. The way things cook definitely differs from gas to electric.

The age of your oven also matters. Temperatures in ovens can also vary many degrees from what your temperature gauge says on your range.

I highly suggest checking out my post on Checking Your Oven’s Temperature.

The article on checking your oven will help you get the cook times down. I also recommend getting a decent meat thermometer as well.

A box of Oven Fry for extra crispy pork.

Oven Fry

I am always surprised so many have never heard of Oven Fry. This ingredient is found very easily at most major grocery stores.

People ask if they can use Shake and Bake instead of the Oven Fry and I say yes, but I DO prefer the oven fry. I think it is crispier.

Off Brand Oven Fry

I DO buy Aldi’s brand of oven fry and I like it very much. They do not always have the pork variety, but I have used the chicken one ON pork and it has been just fine.

I have not tried other off brands but give it a try and let me know.

Substitute For Oven Fry

I know some readers live out of the United States and cannot get the products mentioned above. I have heard that many people sub seasoned Panko crumbs for the oven fry or shake and bake.

They said the recipe comes out delicious.

Set Yourself Up For Success

When making this recipe you just need to be a little organized. Set up your breading station and then a pan to add the breaded chops to.

This will make the recipe THAT much easier to assemble.

A breading station with Bone In Pork Chops, Kraft Foods Oven Fry and egg wash.
Set yourself up with a breading station to bread the Pork Chops with ease.

The Sauce IS The Boss

The honey mustard glaze that you drizzle over these crispy baked chops is just dreamy! I always make more than what the recipe calls for because it is so delicious.

I drizzle this on as the chops come out of the oven. The sweet sauce gets in all the crevices of those crispy chops.

This just makes the perfect texture and flavor profile.

The Best Pork Chops Ever

The Best Pork Chops Ever

The Best Pork Chop Recipe Ever is a tried and true Tipsy Housewife recipe. This one uses simple ingredients like Crispy Oven Fry Seasoning on the bone in pork chops. This frys the chops up crispy on the outside and juicy on the insude, right in your oven! You then make a delicious honey mustard glaze that gets drizzled over the top when they are hot out of the oven. This will be your family's new favorite pork chop recipe.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 Large Pork Chops about 1 Inch Thick, Bone In
  • 1 Box of Oven Fry for Pork *see post before the recipe card for more info
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons of Butter
  • 2 T of Honey
  • 1 T of Yellow Mustard
  • 1 T of Vinegar, I used Red Wine Vinegar
  • 3 to 4 T Fresh Parsley, Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika

Instructions

  1. Let the pork chops sit out for about 30 minutes before prepping them.
  2. Let the eggs sit out for about 30 minutes after whisking them.
  3. Dry the pork chops really well on all sides with paper towels.
  4. Set yourself up a breading area with the egg, oven fry, chops and an empty plate to make it easy on yourself.
  5. Bread the chops following these steps
  6. Dip a chop in the egg mixture making sure to coat all sides.
Then press the chop down into the oven fry, turn to get all the edges and opposite sides.
  7. Place chops on plate while you do the remaining chops.
  8. Prepare a baking sheet with foil and non stick spray and place the chops on the sheet while heating the oven to 375 to 400 degrees depending on how hot your oven gets.
  9. Then sprinkle a little bit of the oven fry on top of the chops with a pat of butter on top of each chop.
  10. My oven runs pretty hot so I baked these for about 20 minutes before they were done.
  11. While the chops bake, prepare the honey mustard glaze by whisking together the honey, vinegar, mustard, half the parsley and paprika.
  12. Remove the chops from the oven, turn off the oven, drizzle the chops with the honey mustard glaze and place the sheet pan back in the oven (that is turned off) for about 5 to 7 minutes  so the glaze bakes on. Reserve the remaining glaze for dipping.
  13. Remove the chops from the oven, plate and sprinkle with the remaining parsley. We had pan friend onions and potato pierogis with these chops and it was the perfect meal. There were just a few leftovers and I used the remaining chops and honest mustard for a salad for lunch the next day.

All ovens vary as well as thickness of pork chops so always take the temp to make sure ités cooked despite what any recipe says. I do hope your husband has a great birthday!

I made these today for supper. I cant get Oven Crisp in Canada so I used Shake n Bake extra crispy. Other than that I stayed true to the recipe except that I made extra of the glaze, thinking it will make a very nice salad dressing with the leftover chop and some greens. My whole family enjoyed this and I will be making this one again for sure, I might even try it with some chicken too.

For the Pork chop glaze. Does the T mean Tablespoon or Teaspoon.

A capital T always means tablespoon in recipes and a small t means teaspoon

I like this idea but wow the are a few ideas I think are missing. Such as the oven fry and all the spices. I mean everything is just there, no order. Really had to think about this as I cooked it.

These were delicious! Hoping you can suggest how to get my topping to brown.

I used seasoned panko and an internal thermometer in oven. When the chops came to temp the panko was not yet browned or crispy. I reduced the butter on top to 1/2 T, but the panko was a bit mushy when the meat was done. Even so, it was still tasty! I can imagine how much better with a crispy crust. Ended up tossing them in a skillet which helped some but maybe there is something else I should try? Thank you, this recipe is a keeper! Like many others have said, I doubled the glaze for extra dipping sauce.
