A Dip Just For Your Triscuits

A Triscuit cracker with veggie dip on it is being held over a over a bowl of the dip.

There is a dip for every cracker and this Triscuit Dip is a perfect spread for its namesake. All it takes is simple ingredients with just the right flavors and textures to stand up to this cracker.

This dip is also good for vegetables and really any other cracker you choose. The longer it sits, the more flavor there is, so this is a perfect “make ahead” snack.

There’s a full recipe card at the end of the post with all of the ingredients and instructions, but first I have some info to guide you on your quest for cracker dip deliciousness.

What’s A Triscuit?

A Triscuit is a delicious woven cracker. I love serving them around the holidays with various dips. You need something hearty but not too filling to stave off hunger before a big holiday meal, hence the invention of the Triscuit Dip.

I personally shop at Aldi so I always get their brand of Triscuits, which are called Savoritz, but that is neither here nor there.

I had always thought to myself that a Triscuit needed its OWN dip the same way I have my Dorito Dip that is only to be eaten with Doritos.

The only problem with Triscuits is that the dip flavor is usually lost in whatever you are eating it with because of the strong taste and texture of the cracker. That’s why I developed a dip that can stand up to this mighty cracker.

Let me also clarify that this is not a paid sponsored post by Triscuit. i just really have passionate feelings for snack foods.

But if Triscuit reads this and wants to send me a bunch of free crackers, I won’t say no!

A jar of Hormel dried beef.

What IS Dried Beef?

Now this is going to be hard for some people, but this recipe calls for dried beef. If you are a salt lover, this will be your new favorite ingredient.

If it sounds odd, DO NOT let this bother you. The meat is basically cured like a beef jerky and it is very delicious.

I use this in another recipe for one of my most popular dips called Party Dip. That is equally as delicious, it just has a slightly different flavor profile.

Too Salty?

Because this dried beef is cured, it does get very salty in the jar. I do not mind because there is no other salt added to the dip.

If you are sensitive to salt, you can rinse the dried beef and pat it dry with paper towels before adding it to the dip.

If you are really against the beef, you can sub chopped, cooked bacon or ham for this recipe. But please give the beef a try!

The beef comes out of the jar looking like this. Trust me, it tastes better than it looks.

Peel and Dice

If you have a minute, I really like to peel my red bell pepper for this recipe. I think it adds so much more flavor and a better texture to your dip.

You can skip this step, but it is a nice touch.

Make sure that you also dice and chop everything VERY small for this recipe. This will make a big difference in how your dip spreads on the crackers.

Take a little extra time and do so. You can also pulse it through your food processor.

Triscuit Dip

A Triscuit cracker with veggie dip on it is being held over a over a bowl of the dip.

There is a dip for every cracker and this Triscuit Dip is a perfect spread for its namesake cracker. Simple ingredients with just the right flavors and textures to stand up to this cracker. This dip is also good for vegetables and really any other cracker you choose. The longer it sits, the more flavor there is, so this is a perfect "make ahead" snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 red bell pepper diced small
  • 5 green onions sliced thin, white and green parts
  • 2 celery stems diced small (I like to use the leaves too)
  • 1 package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon of mayo
  • 1 tablespoon of sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon of white sugar
  • Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and Black Pepper (however much your heart wants) I start with about a teaspoon of garlic and onion powder and then taste and add. Pinch of black pepper. *remember that the garlic and onion powder gets stronger as it sits so if you are making this ahead of time, note this before adding more.
  • 1 jar of Hormel Dried Beef *this is very salty, which is why there is no other salt in this dip **you can find this in the grocery aisle by the canned chili
  • 1 tablespoon of Everything But The Bagel Seasoning, half for in the dip, half to top the dip with for presentation
  • 6 crushed Triscuit crackers, I like any of the seasoned varieties for this

Instructions

  1. Wash and dice your bell pepper very small. If I am feeling extra, I peel it first.
  2. In a mixing bowl, you are going to mix the cream cheese, mayo, sour cream and sugar.
  3. Add your garlic and onion powders plus the black pepper, mix well and taste, Adjust the seasonings.
  4. Mix in your peppers and your green onion, combine well.
  5. Fold in your dried beef. At this point you can refrigerate overnight, it is even better if you do so.
  6. When ready to serve, fold in half of the everything but the bagel seasoning. The dip may need to sit out for a bit at room temperature before doing so.
  7. Top with the crushed Triscuits and the remaining everything but the bagel seasoning and serve. *sometimes I add a sprinkle of dried chives or dried parsley or dried dill to the top for more color.

**some people like to rinse the dried beef off with cold water and pat dry with paper towels before adding to the recipe. This cuts down on some of the salt. I do not because there is no other salt in this recipe and it needs to season this up.
