Pickle Potato Chip Dip
A Pickle Dip Made For Fun In The Sun

This Pickle Potato Chip Dip is a creamy delight, marrying the tanginess of bread and butter pickles with the richness of dill cream cheese. The pickle juice adds a punch of flavor, while celery salt provides a savory kick.
It’s a perfect balance of textures and tastes, ideal for dipping crispy chips or crunchy veggies.
This is THE dip to add to your summer cooler and snack on throughout the day. I may be so bold as to suggest that this dip is also FANTASTIC schmeared on a grilled burger.
The Origins Of This Dip
My best friend Kristen has one of those truly perfect, June Cleaver Moms much like my own. Her name is Sandi and she is one of my absolute favorite people in the whole world.
The things I admire most about her are her organizational skills, attention to detail, warmth, and kindness. Most recently I have come to love her for another reason: her Pickle Dip!
She made this dip a few weeks ago at a housewarming party for my best friend and her new wife and it was a HUGE hit! I had to get the recipe.
I love her version but, being an onion lover, I had to add my own oniony touch.

For The Love Of Buttermilk Powder
Buttermilk Powder has been hiding in plain sight from you for years if you havenét heard of it. You can usually find this in any baking aisle near the powdered milks.
I like to use the buttermilk powder in this dish because it adds a nice texture and a great tangy flavor. I have several other recipes using buttermilk powder you can find by clicking this link, then scrolling through the recipes.
I also have this one I keep in my pantry on my Amazon affiliate page.
*I earn a small commission from Amazon for you using my link. It costs you no more extra money.*
You can also sub a couple tablespoons of regular buttermilk for this powder if you wish.
Making Buttermilk
To make 1 cup of buttermilk substitute, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to a liquid measuring cup. Then add milk to the 1-cup line and stir.
You can either use fresh-squeezed lemon juice or bottled lemon juice.
Another Way To Make Buttermilk
The simplest way to substitute buttermilk is to pour 1 Tbs. of vinegar into a 1 cup measurer and then fill the rest of the measuring cup with milk. Then gently stir the mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
If you don’t have vinegar, lemon juice and cream of tartar also work as great buttermilk substitutions.

Onion Juice, The Secret Ingredient
I have shared this onion juice before. I use this juice for my Vegetable Pizza Appetizer.
The onion juice adds great flavor to this dip. It is optional but I think it’s great to have on hand in general.
Where To Buy Onion Juice
I have always been able to find this Onion Juice in most grocery stores. It is usually one of those items that has always been there but you have never looked for.
I have also spotted it at Walmart. Try checking the pickle and cocktail mix sections.
You can also order a brand on Amazon that is very good called Howardés Onion Juice.
*That link is to my Amazon Affiliate store which means I get a small commission from Amazon when you use the link. This costs you nothing extra.*
Other Uses
You can also use onion juice in salad dressing, soups, in meat marinades, and for Bloody Marys. I think you will find it to be perfect for meat marinades for grilling as it adds the onion flavor without the chunks of onion left to burn off when grilled at a high heat.

If you make this dip once you’ll probably be asked to bring it to all future parties. You have been warned!

Ingredients
- 8 oz. Cream Cheese Softened
- 1/4 to 1/2 cups of finely diced bread and butter pickles (you can sub dill if you prefer)
- 1/2 of a small yellow onion, grated on a cheese grater or finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon of onion juice (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of celery salt
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon of celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoon of buttermilk powder (optional)
- 2 T Pickle Juice
- 1 T Dill Weed
- *further information is included in the post on any optional ingredients shared in the post
Instructions
- Soften your cream cheese for an hour or two before starting this recipe.
- In a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, whip your cream cheese with your mayo until it is light and fluffy.
- In a bowl, add your pickle juice, celery seed, celery salt, dill, onion juice, buttermilk powder and whisk until well combined.
- Slowly add your pickle juice mixture to the cream cheese mayo mixture while mixing on low. When it is well combined, turn up the speed and whip again on high for a minute or two.
- Finely dice your pickles and slowly add them and the grated onion and the onion juices to your mixture and beat on medium speed until well combined.
- Add to a bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Serve slightly softened. I like to serve with ridge potato chips.
- I like to sometimes serve with crushed potato chips on top for some extra crunch.
