Grilled Cheese Spread
The Best Grilled Cheese You Will Ever Make

Grilled Cheese Spread is made with hand shredded muenster cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, and a Beau Monde seasoning. This cheese spread can keep in the fridge for at least a week so you can make grilled cheese at your convenience.
A few weeks back I co-hosted a wine night at a wine bar in Northern Wisconsin. One of the wines needed to be paired with a creamy and luscious cheese so I came up with this grilled cheese spread as a means of convenience since I needed to get a lot of courses out quickly.
It ended up being so good, I needed to get this recipe up on my site.
DIY Grilled Cheese
If I were having a fun party, I would make this spread, and put it out buffet style, with bread and an electric skillet for people to make their own grilled cheeses as they want them. You can print up the steps on a cute board to put on the buffet.
I would also have a big old crockpot of my Tomato Soup for people to help themselves to as well! Yum! Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup is the best combination!

Beau Monde Seasoning
Many know of this Southern secret and I love this stuff. Beau Monde Seasoning is a mix of salt, onion powder, and celery powder.
I use this seasoning in my Summer Sweet Corn Salad Dressing and it is also a great seasoning in any salad dressing or in deviled eggs. I live in a big city so I do find this at stores in my area.
You can also order it on Amazon and there are also many recipes online where you can mix up your own!

Muenster Cheese
This is the cheese I buy up in Wisconsin to make this Grilled Cheese Spread. You can use any brand of cheese but I do feel like it is very important to make this recipe with Muenster cheese.
It is the cheese that will melt the best and the quickest in the cheese spread. It is also less oily than, say, a cheddar.
It is also important to grate this yourself. You can ask them at the deli to just cut you off a chunk.
If you can ONLY find sliced, just dice the cheese slices up very small before adding to the cream cheese mixture.

Don’t Overstuff
A good 3 to 4 tablespoons will be good to spread on the bread. Now you are free to use as much or as little as you like, just know that this is VERY melty once you toast this SO you need to use caution.

Mayo On The Bread
I have always used mayonnaise on the outside of the bread for toasting up a grilled cheese sandwich. Some people are shooketh by this, but mayo is just oil and egg!
It allows the bread to toast up golden and delicious. It is also much easier to spread evenly on the outside of the bread.

Keep For A Week
This cheese spread should at least keep for a week in your fridge in a sealed container, probably even longer. When you want to use this for sandwiches, be sure to let it soften out at room temperature for a bit.
This is so that it will easily spread.

Grilled Cheese Spread Recipe

Grilled Cheese Spread made with cream cheese, mayonnaise, and freshly shredded Muenster cheese. This spread can keep in the fridge for a week or two. Spread on bread then toast in a pan for the best grilled cheese ever.
Ingredients
- 8 ounce brick of Cream Cheese
- 1 cup of Mayonnaise
- 8 ounce brick of Muenster Cheese
- 1 to 2 teaspoons of Beau Monde Seasoning *optional **pictured, linked and substitutes in the post before the recipe card
- 1 tablespoon of Dill Pickle Juice
Instructions
- Leave the cream cheese to sit out to room temperature, about one hour before making the recipe.
- When the cream cheese is soft, add it to a bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat on high until light and fluffy, then slowly beat in the pickle juice.
- Add the mayonnaise and beat this on high until it is all light and fluffy. Add the Beau Monde seasoning, if using, and mix well to combine.
- Grate the Muenster cheese into a thick shred.
- Slowly add the cheese into the cream cheese mixture a handful at a time. Mix until well combined.
- This can store in the fridge for a week or two.
- To make the grilled cheese sandwiches, let the spread soften so that it is spreadable.
- Using a more dense bread, spread 3 to 4 tablespoons on the bread. Top with another slice of bread. Spread the outer side of the bread with some mayonnaise. Fry up in a skillet until toasty brown and the cheese is melted.
- You can also eat this grilled cheese spread on crackers as a dip. If I was serving as a dip, I would top with thinly sliced chives.
