A Family Favorite

Polish Roll Up Dip is a family favorite appetizer for decades, made into a dip. Polish roll ups are made with sweet pickle, cream cheese, polish ham, and some seasoning and herbs and rolled into bite sized delights.
This dip takes those ingredients and turns them into a delectable dip for crackers or baby sweet gherkins. Salty, creamy, savory, and delicious this is sure to be your new snack-able treat.
Two Recipes In One
There is always a printable recipe card at the end of every one of my posts. In this case, however I have TWO recipe cards!
One card is for the dip and one card is for my Polish Roll Up recipe. Be sure to scroll through the whole post for both recipe cards if you would like both of the recipes.
And I think you would!

The History Of Polish Roll Ups
I have no idea where this recipe idea was born. I grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago in a neighborhood right next to Chicago’s Midway Airport called Garfield Ridge.
This is the home of Summer Garage Parties and Basement Parties the rest of the year. This is an appetizer that you will ALWAYS find at our family parties and I am usually the one required to make them.
I typically make them with ham as the roll up or hard salami. I vary the pickles between sweet and dill although my family loves the sweet pickles the most.
TikTok Strikes Again
A couple of weeks ago I was perusing the TikTok App and came across a guy making delicious looking food called @cibsandibus.
If you are on TikTok, give him a follow! I came across his account and he was referencing Polish Roses which turned out to be a very similar recipe to my Polish Roll Ups.
The genius idea he had was to take this recipe and turn it into a dip. I made it immediately and I am so glad I did.
I love how so many of us have similar family recipes. I always enjoy seeing how much food brings us together.

Roll & Refrigerate
I like to assemble my Polish Roll Ups and let them hang out in the fridge overnight. I think that they are easier to cut this way.
One variation that I sometimes add to these roll ups is crushed Doritos. I just love the crunch and flavor.
I am a HUGE fan of chips with deli meat. In fact, I make The Perfect Ham Sandwich recipe this way.
If you make these Polish Roll Ups, add some crunch with crushed Doritos.

Polish Roll Ups

Polish roll ups have been a family favorite for decades. Cream cheese spread on Polish ham, with a pickle, rolled up and sliced into bite sized delights. Salami is also a favorite for this recipe. The optional crunch of crushed up Doritos is an added delight.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of Polish ham, sliced on the thinner, but not shaved, side (I use Krakus)
- 16 ounces of whipped cream cheese (plain, garden veggie or chive)
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried dill
- 1 teaspoon of celery salt
- 1 packet of dry Italian dressing mix (I use Good Seasons brand)
- 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
- 2 sixteen ounce jars of sweet petite pickles, sometimes called baby gherkins
- *optional 1/2 cup of thinly sliced green onions
- **optional 2 cups of crushed Doritos chips
Instructions
- Mix the cream cheese with the dill, celery salt, and Italian dressing until well combined.
- Mix in the sour cream and mayonnaise and mix on medium to high until light and fluffy.
- Add in the sliced green onions if using and mix well to combine.
- Spread your ham slices out and I pat dry with paper towels to make the cream cheese mixture easier to spread.
- Drain your pickles very well.
- Spread your cream cheese mixture on the entire length of the ham slices. *if using the crushed Doritos, sprinkle some on each ham slice, reserve the rest for serving.
- Depending on the size of the pickles add one or two lengthwise and roll them up with the ham.
- Repeat this process until all of your ingredients are used up.
- Place the ham slices on a plate and cover with plastic wrap, refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
- When ready to slice, wet a paper towel and squeeze out, to use to wipe your knife when slicing.
- Slice the roll ups into 1 inch pieces and display on a plate. Use the wet paper towel to clean your knife in between slices. These can be wrapped up and saved for a few hours until serving. When ready to serve, if using the crushed Doritos, sprinkle each one with some of the crushed chips.
Back To The Polish Roll Up Dip

Same Ingredients, Different Way To Eat
The dip is just a genius way to eat Polish Roll Ups without all the work of making them. I mixed up this dip, let it hang out overnight in the fridge, and served it up the next day.
It was total perfection.
The crunch of the pickles, the saltiness of the ham, and the creaminess of the cheese creates a PERFECT dip!

Good Seasons
While you can use ANY Italian dressing dry mix for this recipe, I have to share that I am partial to this Good Seasons Brand seasoning. You will easily find this at any grocery store.
You can also order this online from Amazon if needed. I also use this brand for my Party Potluck Pasta Salad. I think it has the best flavors.
