An Easy and Delicious Breakfast

Cheddar Egg Biscuits

*This post was originally sponsored by Kaukauna Cheese Spread, though my love of it is genuine.*

If you have been following me for some time you know that I am a Wisconsin Supper Club groupie. You can read all about my many Wisconsin Supper Club adventures.

One of the things I love most about the whole Supper Club Atmosphere is the Kaukauna® Cheese Spread and Crackers that are complimentary at almost any supper club you go to in Wisconsin. This is probably because Kaukauna® was created and has ALWAYS been produced IN the great state of Wisconsin.

For me, cheese is what Wisconsin is all about.

A Cheesy History

I recently learned the story behind Kaukauna® and it’s really interesting!

It was first started in 1918 by an Eastern European man, Hubert Fassbender, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin way up near Green Bay and Appleton. He started a distribution company that ultimately became the Kaukauna® Cheese Company.

He had a mission to create a cold-pack cheese that would be ideal for spreading on crackers and bread, because at the time he also was distributing Wisconsinés other signature item – beer. His customers who owned taverns and clubs wondered if he had anything their patrons could snack on.

So he went to work, figuring out how to make a spreadable, cold-pack cheese. He finally figured it out by using whey solids and powered milk and that is how Kaukauna® cheese was born.

People loved it. It caught on at country clubs and supper clubs. It still graces many a supper club table across Wisconsin. The fun news is that Kaukauna® is turning 100 years young this year and to celebrate they have updated two of their classic cheese recipes, the port wine and sharp cheddar cheeses.

The taste has not changed but these two recipes have been updated to have no artificial ANYTHING.

They also have some cool new packaging. You can expect this new update to extend to the whole line of products in the future, which I think is awesome.

The other thing I love is that while the cheeses are of course great on their own, they can be used in many other ways. You can find great recipes using the cheeses by visiting the Kaukauna® website. The recipes featured on their website had me thinking of some ideas of my own.

Basically anything you can spread the Kaukauna® Cheese on was on my board. If you make this recipe and love it, make sure to visit Kaukauna® on their social media pages and share it!

Cheddar Egg Biscuits

Cheddar Egg Biscuits

Cheddar Egg Biscuits are a tasty and easy breakfast perfect for a fancy brunch or a lazy weekend.

Ingredients

  • 1 ten oz. Kaukauana® Sharp Cheddar Cheese Ball
  • 12 Ready Made Biscuit Dough Rounds
  • 6 Eggs
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Spray a 12 cup muffin pan with non stick spray.
  2. Press your biscuit rounds into each of the muffin spots, making a deep indentation in each of the spots and pressing the dough up the sides.
  3. In a bowl or 2 C measuring cup, whisk 6 eggs and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the whisked eggs into each one of the biscuits, fill about halfway.
  5. Take your Kaukauna® Sharp Cheddar Cheese Ball and remove it from the package.
  6. Place the cheese in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for about one minute, or until it is soft. The beauty of the Kaukauna® Cheese is that you can spread and form the cheese into different shapes but for this recipe IF you want to expedite the process you may want to soften it more to place it into the biscuit/egg cups before baking.
  7. When the cheese is softened, add about 2 t of cheese to each of the egg cups.
  8. Heat your oven to 350 degrees, place your muffin tray in the oven on the center rack, and bake for 35 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes before removing them from the pan.
