Toasty Bites Of Goodness

Sliders with salad and pickles

All American Sliders are delightful bites of ham, salami, and melted Muenster cheese topped with a dressed, shredded lettuce and pickles. These are super customizable and easy to make for a crowd or as a nice, light dinner.

We recently moved into our new home and Mister Tipsy is able to come home in between his morning, part-time job and his regular full-time job. I have been trying to have a nice lunch for him before he heads off to work for the day.

Well, I made these and he enjoyed them very much!

I had asked him a few weeks ago what his ideal deli sandwich would be and he specifically mentioned ham, salami, and cheese so that is how I came up with the idea for these All American Sliders. Mister Tipsy sometimes has some great recipe ideas.

He is, after all, the inventor of both the Philly Cheesesteak Pasta AND the Meatball Soup!

The Lineup

This recipe is pretty self explanatory as you will see from the recipe card below. By the way, you can print, save, or pin that recipe card!

The ingredients are pretty common, but I always like to think of which, if any, of the ingredients may be unfamiliar to some. I know that the hoagie spread may be one people are not too familiar with.

I have been buying this Cento Hoagie Spread forever. It is so good and adds a nice spice without burning your mouth too much.

I use this hoagie spread as the centerpiece for my Hye Roller Sandwiches, though I am sure there are other brands that make a similar spread, so feel free to use whatever brand you like. You may also want to omit this ingredient so that you make sure it is not too spicy for some.

Potato rolls

The Rolls

These are the rolls I like to use for most of my slider recipes, though you can use any dinner rolls or even Hawaiian rolls. I like that these are slightly larger than the typical Hawaiian rolls but any small roll will do for these All American Sliders.

Pick whatever bread you like!

Shave It

I do believe that these sliders taste better when you make sure the deli meat is shaved. I like to use Krakus Polish Ham but I am learning that this Polish ham is a local favorite and not sold everywhere.

If you can get your hands on some Polish ham, I highly suggest you use it! It is my favorite, but any ham will be good as long as it is shaved.

Get the salami sliced very thin too so that it bakes up a little crisp.

All American Sliders

All American Sliders made with shaved ham, shaved Genoa salami, Muenster cheese, baked up toasty and served with a dressed lettuce and pickle topping. The perfect snackable treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of shaved ham *I use Krakus Polish Ham
  • 1/2 lb of shaved Genoa salami *approximately 24 slices
  • 12 slices of Muenster Cheese
  • 12 Potato dinner rolls *pictured in the post before the recipe card
  • 3 to 4 cups of shredded lettuce
  • 12 baby dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons of pickle juice
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise + 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon of celery salt
  • 1 tablespoon of hoagie spread *optional **pictured in post
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic salt *I used a pickle salt I got at Trader Joes

Instructions

  1. Split the buns and place the bottoms inside a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  2. Spread the two tablespoons of mayonnaise all over the bottom buns.
  3. Layer the deli meat and cheese as follows, ham, then the slices of Muenster cheese, then 2 slices of the thinly sliced Genoa salami.
  4. Heat the oven to 375° and place the pan in the oven to bake. DO not top the buns at this point. Bake with the lids of the buns off for 15 to 20 minutes. *every oven bakes differently so pay attention the first time you make these.
  5. While the buns bake, add the remaining mayonnaise to a large bowl, add the pickle juice, mustard, the celery salt and finely dice 4 to 6 of the pickles. If you are using the hoagie spread, you can add it here or serve it on the side. Mix this all together until well combined. Add the shredded lettuce and toss to coat. *If you are not serving these right away, do not combine the lettuce and dressing until right before serving.
  6. After the buns have baked and the cheese is melted and the salami is slightly crisped up, carefully remove from the oven. Top with with the bun tops. Melt the butter and pour this all over the sandwiches. Sprinkle with the garlic salt and parsley. Cover with foil and bake 10 more minutes.
  7. Serve topped with the dressed lettuce and the remaining pickles. I serve with the lettuce in a bowl on the side and the pickles on the side for people to top their sandwiches as they wish.
